Shrinking Violets Check-in for February 4-10, 2007

BelovedHeather

Cathlete
Good morning, Violets! It is a new week and time for a new check-in!

Thank y’all for the love, hugs, and encouragement yesterday. I am feeling much better this morning. I enjoyed Kick, Punch, & Crunch yesterday morning followed by the planks and abs from Kickbox on the Ab Hits DVD. It was a very cold day, and I did not venture out at all. After catching up on several responses to forum posts, I took a nap. I was only planning to sleep for 20 minutes, but I woke up 3 hours later! I think my body was drained from crying so much Friday. I slept through the Saturday evening worship service and a potluck supper with friends. I did not really need to deal with the food last night anyway after feeling so emotional. My menus for this week are already planned, so I can go to the grocery store after the worship service this morning. I bounced on my rebounder last night. Today is my planned rest day. I need to eat breakfast and get ready for church. Have a blessed Sunday!

Blessings,
Heather B.

Good Morning Heather and all who follow.

Heather, Glad you are feeling better. KPC is a fun work out. Glad you enjoyed it!

I am on the very last day of Phase 1 of the X. It's a rest day but I owe myself a work out-X stretch. I have the Baron Yoga Vid I just got which is calling me though since I haven't done it yet so I may do that instead today! :)

I measured/weighed today. I am happy with my results. I like what I see in the mirror as well. Pics? Well, that's a whole other story! ACK! LOL The camera LIES I tell ya! It just LIES!!!!:p

I guess Daddy got CChase his toast, so here I am.

After sleigh riding I came home and fell asleep in the chair. I guess I was wiped out. Then I got up to do some laundry and fellasleep in the chair again! So I guess I switched my restdays. Going to get that LB in today and cardio.

Wendy- cool beans! I am sure you are rockin chicky!

Heather- glad you feel better today! Good WO's.

Happy SuperBowl Sunday to all.

Any big plans?

I think we are going over to a friend's house when DH gets off work.

As for workouts, I have been such a slug again. So I decided to kick my own hiney into gear. This morning I did BM2. All of it. I had never done the whole thing all at once. Wow, Cathe must have been really mad at us when she thought of that one. LOL. I'm still having to modify here and there, but the moves are getting easier. Tomorrow will be a cardio day. I vowed yesterday to work out at least 5 times this week. I had 3 good weeks and then I fell off the exercise and eating wagon last week. So this week I must return to the wagon, pull myself back up and hang on for dear life.

Heather, I read yesterday's thread and am so sorry to hear what you have gone through. I hope you feel that here you can be yourself and receive support and encouragement, not ridicule and harsh words. Now of course, keep in mind that if you start to slip up on your journey, we may present you with some finger wagging and harsh tones to motivate you back on the path. You know that with God's help, you can reach your goals. And when you do reach your goals, you can throw it all in the faces of those who doubted or didn't support you. Although that wouldn't be very Christian like, now would it. Actually, you won't need to throw it in their faces, because they will be able to see with their own eyes what you have accomplishment and hopefully that in itself will make them feel bad for what they have done. Until then, continue with your committment to get fit for yourself and not for others. Know too, that your heart and spirit is in a much better place then theirs.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week.

Jean

Don't really want to discuss the weekend, just that it was bad, from WO (not), food (too much), and everything else.
The kids have no school today cuz the windchill. So Mat is here all day, then I have my eye appt this afternoon, and will pick my niece up on the way home so my sis can get her taxes done. So I will have to WO during the day today. I should do like 3 WOs today.

Meg...We all have those days, weekends, weeks, months, years! LOL :p Seriously girl, I know it's easier said then done as I've been there but DON'T SWEAT IT! In the scheme of things one bad weekend will not break you considering how dedicated you are the MAJORITY of the time! Just DO YOUR BEST AND FORGET THE REST! That's a little quote from the X for inspiration!;)

I have Chest Shoulders + Triceps/ARX on tap for today. Phase 2 of the X is officially beginning! WAHOO!:7

Glad you are seeing it my way, Meg!;) Awesome work out girl! Now you can DEFINATELY forget about what you ate this weekend as you most certainly burned it off PLUS some!}(

Joey is sick with a fever/ear infection.;( Took him to the doc this afternoon and got meds. He started antibiotics tonight so by tomorrow night he should be on the road to recovery. In the mean time it's Tylenol to fight the fever and the ear pain. Poor guy has been up and down all day but mostly down. :-( He got very little in the way of a nap today which didn't help his mood. By the time I was getting ready to put him in bed for the night around 7 (his usual bed time) he was a mess. SOOOO tired! It took him a bit to fall asleep. He cried a few times but he did finally go out and we haven't heard from him since. I hope he sleeps through the night.

With all of that said-I wasn't able to get to my work out until tonight after 7pm. ACK! I'm not used to that except for the occasional cardio class at the gym that I will take but even that is usually by 6 at the latest! I had to pump out Chest Shoulders and Triceps for phase 2/day 1 of the X! It was a great work out! TOUGH! I skipped ARX though. I think I will do abs tues/thurs/sat this week instead of the usual mon/wed/fri. No biggie!:)

Sorry for the novel folks!:7

Have a good night!

Shrinking Violets Check-in

This was a good Monday. I blasted off this new week of workouts with All Step for the second time plus Leaner Legs. I did not bond with All Step the first time I did it last May, but it was the weekend of the 20th anniversary of my best friend’s rape and murder. Needless to say, I was feeling too emotional to enjoy all the spins and twirls. I had a blast this morning, and I know that Lisa was smiling down on me! I love the creative choreography in this workout with all the twirls and spins, especially the rock press into a hop turn and triple turn the other way. Fun, fun, fun! The second combination is fun too. I would have preferred to enjoy the finished combinations a few more times instead of doing all those power 15s, but I still had fun. This is another short and sweet workout with a nice intensity, and it is a great warm-up for Leaner Legs.

I printed the Ultimate Guide Update for Cathe’s workouts. In my opinion, the original thread is more accurate in terms of intensity. I cannot imagine who rated Step Works as less intense than Step Fit. Cardio Kicks is listed as one of the most complex workouts, second only to Rhythmic Step. I was very surprised to see that because Cardio Kicks is not what I call complex. Apparently, most people do not think Step Blast is complex either. Step Blast has the most challenging choreography in my opinion. Rhythmic Step is one of the most enjoyable Cathe workouts. I totally agree! It is interesting to see how people perceive different workouts.

It was chilly this morning, but I am not complaining because the weather warmed up to the 60s after lunch. Of course, it is cold again tonight. I talked to a Ya Ya friend (who is also a member of Cathe’s forums) for the first time tonight and had fun keeping her company while she was waiting at the airport for her flight.

I bounced on my rebounder tonight. My meals and snacks are packed for tomorrow. I am ready for a warm bubble bath and some relaxation time before I wrap up this day.

Maeghan, we all have days like that. It is part of the journey. Just be careful not to let a lapse turn into a relapse and a total collapse.

Wendy, I prayed for Joey this afternoon. I did not know he was sick again. He was on my heart, and I just knew that I was supposed to pray for him. I was going to ask you if he was doing okay on his seizure medication.

Hugs to Jean, Kali, and Kim. Come out and play with us!

Blessings,
Heather B.

RE: Shrinking Violets Check-in

Heather,

ALL STEP and LEANER LEGS sounds like a great combo! Good for you! I think RS is THE MOST COMPLICATED choreography that Cathe has. I can see where folks would find Cardio Kicks choreo difficult as well. Step Blast was tough for me to learn when I first started but now it's a breeze. I STILL haven't even come close to mastering RS...although I don't often try! LOL

Thanks for the prayers for my little one. He should start doing better today now that he is on meds.

Well I have a big work out planned today....B&G Leg Blast Premix, either Plyo, an IMAX or a DM cardio only premix, and either ARX or B&G abs!}( }( }(

Chest Shoulders and Tris was a good work out. He had some evil new exercises in there...namely the new push ups that were introduced! YIKES! }( I'm not feeling actual DOMS yet but I am just very aware of some of the muscles that were worked last night. :)

Okay, I'll be back!

RE: Shrinking Violets Check-in

Hello everyone.

Didn't want to get up again this morning, but I managed to crawl out of bed. Since it was a nice balmy 42 degrees I decided on an outdoor run. Dog and I went out for a little over 2 miles. I was not very energenic though so it turned out to be walk/jog intervals. Trying to eat better this week, but still had a candy collaspe yesterday. Glad everyone is getting their workouts in. Sorry to here Joey is sick. Hope he starts feeling better soon.

RE: Shrinking Violets Check-in

Finished WO. Although my WO was 90 min, I still feel a tad underworked? Meaning, I think I should have done a little more cardio. That's alright though.
I did Tracey Staehles (I know I spell her name wrong all the time) Kickbox challenge and full body sculpt. The DVD says 90 min, but I skipped the kickbox cooldown, and the second warm up, so it was 75min, then I did 15 min of yoga, just basic movves from Fitness mag.
The sculpt was good, great hamstring and outer thigh work, really burned. I used 8# instead of her 5#. The shoulder work was real good. I though it lacked a little bicep, so I did extra curls. It could use more ab, but the planks were good. It is a good one for a full body work.

Hi Jean! Hey, that is a good WO, especially first thing! Good job.

Shrinking Violets Check-in

I am tired tonight. I need to start getting more sleep at night. My eating is clean. My rotation is balanced. I have made many positive changes this year, but I am still staying up too late at night. That will be my downfall eventually if I do not turn it around soon. My goal is to be asleep by 10:00 p.m. so I can wake up at 4:00 a.m. and have more time for Bible study and prayer before I face the world. I am a morning girl, and I feel so much better when I get to bed early and get up early. I started getting off track with my Bible study the week of the ice storm. It is so hard to get up on cold and dark mornings. I am ready for spring! I am tired of running late every morning and feeling rushed. Getting enough sleep at night has always been one of my greatest challenges. Thankfully, I am able to sleep. I just need to do it!

I did the Kickbox cardio and arm drills this morning followed by Pyramid Upper Body. I am planning to try Maximum Intensity Cardio for the very first time tomorrow morning. I need to preview it before I call it a day so I will know what to expect.

My meals and snacks are packed for tomorrow. It is time for a warm bubble bath and a Cathe preview party.

Wendy, Rhythmic Step has fun choreography. It is worth learning! The funny thing about Step Blast is that I can do the challenge flawlessly. I keep ending up on the wrong side of the step when Cathe is teaching the third combination. Have you done any of those wild “jumpy” push-ups that I saw on the P90X infomercial?

Jean, I am having such a hard time getting up too, so I am with you.

Maeghan, good job. Did you preorder her new series?

Blessings,
Heather B.

RE: Shrinking Violets Check-in

Hey all. Going on appr 3 hours of sleep here! I had to get up at 3 to take parents to the airport, so of course I could NOT get to sleep last night, mind was racing. ANd the boys chose that night to not sleep well! LOL! As soon as I finally fell asleep, Chase woke up crying, he had an accident in bed. SO once I got him and all that straightened out, I finally fell asleep again, and then Connor woke up crying. Boy o boy! LOL So I just did some house work and stuff.

I am hoping to do just straight cardio today. Maybe CC.

Heather- No I didn't pre-order, but I have to check them out too!

RE: Shrinking Violets Check-in

Happy Wednesday everyone.

This morning I did Butts part of B & G. I don't think I did the floor leg work before using the ankle weights. It felt like my legs were going to pop out of their sockets. I'm fearing major doms in the next day or two.

Maeghan, sorry about the rough night. It sounds like the only thing missing was a fire call. Now would that have been a dandy to add in?

Heather, yes you need to get to sleep earlier if you are trying to get up by 4:00. I shoot for 4:30, but lately have been failing. I'm going to try for it tomorrow.

Wendy, how's the little one doing? Hope he's better.

Kali, Kim and Sunnydelite, hope all is well.

Jean

RE: Shrinking Violets Check-in

Well I got in a 30 min TM run after work today. Planned to do B&B at nap time but Joey is not doing well. He is UBER cranky so I have no idea what to expect out of him from minute to minute. It's been CRAZY since we got home from the gym. I will have to put B&B off until tonight it seems. It's wierd too cause he's on meds now so his fever is gone and I really honestly don't think his ears are bothering him. He wasn't napping well when he was sick though so maybe he's just over-tired so that is causing his mood swings. He's either been asleep or crying since we got home this afternoon. :-(

Shrinking Violets Check-in

This was a wonderful day! It started with Maximum Intensity Cardio. I cannot believe I avoided this cardio workout for so long. I am not wild about dated workouts in general, but I had a blast with this one. It is a fun workout even though the choreography is not dancy at all. Cathe starts out with a warm-up and a low impact combination that is nothing to write home about. I was not sure I would like this workout after the first few minutes. The music during the first half of the hi-lo is not the best. I liked the medium impact segment okay. What hooked me was the boxer’s shuffle segment. I did that on my rebounder and had such a good time! I could not stop smiling. What a high! The music picked up too. Fun, fun, fun! I was higher than a kite and feeling no pain by the end of that song. This is definitely good old-fashioned high impact aerobics that reminds me of my high school days. I am a hi-lo lover and an intensity junkie, so this workout satisfied me on both counts. I prefer the hi-lo in Step, Jump, & Pump, but I like this workout too. It makes me feel so good! The step segment of this workout is the best part with better music. I enjoyed the rock press off the side and the sashays. I was flying across the step during the second combination because I was too energized to feel the fatigue. The super intense step blast segment at the end left me drenched in sweat and begging for mercy. I was jumping up and down on the inside, but my body was tired and ready for a nap after it was over. My legs felt like noodles, and I was tripping all over myself when I tried to do grapevines during the cool-down. Speaking of the cool-down, what a great song! The soothing stretch felt so good. I still feel good tonight. Glory!

I stepped outside this morning feeling energized from my workout and was delighted by the beautiful weather that greeted me. The weather was even nicer later in the day.

I went to the club after work and jogged in the pool. I do not know where Rebecca has been. I hope she is not still under the weather. She has not been answering her cell phone, and her mailbox is full. I miss my workout friend.

My meals and snacks are packed for tomorrow. I need to bless my body with enough restful sleep tonight to recharge for Boot Camp. I hope I do not regret attempting it the morning after such an intense cardio workout. I can do anything for a minute. Yes, I can! I got more sleep last night and expect to sleep like a baby tonight. Between Maximum Intensity Cardio this morning and a refreshing water jogging workout tonight, I am tired and ready to call it a day.

Blessings,
Heather B.

RE: Shrinking Violets Check-in

Heather: MIC!? Good job! It's a great old fashioned calorie burner! WOOH! I keep thinking about that work out...need to dust it off some day soon!}( Have fun with Boot Camp and I hope your friend re-surfaces soon and that she is OKAY!:)
