Shoulder Retraction

In your newer videos you tell us to retract our shoulders. Should we retract our shoulders in the other older videos as well? ie PS series, Body Max, MIS.
Or is the retraction just for those type of moves?

Hi Sharon! A shoulder retraction targets more rhomboids and trapezius muscle plus helps to eliminate momentum in an exercise. This is good for super focus and specific development. But a shoulder retraction also keeps a movement from being more dynamic. Training with dynamic range of motion is also good at times because its less restricted movement will invite more surrounding muscles(but good form still needs to be in check). Both methods are good, provide benefits, and can be used interchangeably for better muscle fiber recruitment. Good Luck!
