Shoulder definition

I enjoy my shoulder workouts and have been able to gradually increase my weight over time. But my arms don't show even a hint of definition in the shoulder area. I look at Cathe and crew and feel like another species. Maybe it's just the way my arms are shaped? Is it possible that I'm carrying too much fat in my upper arms to see the muscle definition? (This is DEFINITELY the case with my abs!) Just wondering if anyone else has noticed a lack of shoulder definition.

Nancy, have you ever done the Tank Top Rotation? It is great for building shoulder definition. Actually, shoulders are the easiest place on my body to define. SORRY! Now, if I could figure out how to define my LB and ABS as well, I'd be a happy camper! BTW, I work shoulders twice a week, occasionally 3X/week.

Any kind of muscle definition depends on both building the muscle and cutting the layer(s) of fat over it, so your idea about carrying too much fat in the upper arm may be a factor.

Keep on with your strength and cardio workouts, and you should see progress, though it might be slower than you'd like. It always seems to me that progress in any area is slow (especially as you get older), but then, sometimes, one day, out of the blue, BAM! you suddenly see definition that you didn't notice before. (Unfortunately, the same BAM! happens with wrinkles and lines! :( )

Like Debbie, I suggest doing some boxing, kickboxing moves so that your cardio will help you focus on that area as well. Boxing moves are so great for toning the arms and shoulders.

I know what you mean about the abs! My abs are strong, and I've got a 4-pack (well, maybe even a 6-pack) "under there" somewhere, LOL!
