Should you eat before a workout?

well, i think some do need to eat before a w/o.
some do not, so i don't go by books.
and yeah, protein after a w/o :)
and complex carbs!

Well I have to eat before I workout or I have no energy to lift the weights. Most of the time, I eat while I am working out too and then afterwards. Works for me.

I also have to eat before I workout or I won't have any energy. When I do high intensity workouts, especially running, I always eat a carb, like an apple or a piece of whole wheat toast, to replenish glycogen levels. Then an hour later I will eat a carb and a protein, like some nuts and a piece of fruit. I haven't heard the theory that this guy is talking about before, and it doesn't sound right. You need protein, but you also need to build the energy stored in your muscles back up, too, by eating carbs, good carbs that is. ;)

It is all light. I have my yogurt and protein bar sitting on the entertainment center. I munch and stuff during commercial breaks. LOL! I really feel like I cannot lift heavy if I don't have enough to eat. You need alot of fuel to lift heavy. Well, at least I do. Cardio would be different, I would just make sure I had plenty of water and would be fine.

I usually don't eat before a workout--mostly b/c I cramp if I do. But after working out I eat a ton, especially on the weekends when I totally carb out.
