Should I sell my STS?

BAM

Cathlete
I had pre-ordered STS at the beginning and have only done Mesocycle 1. I didn't realize how intense Meso 2 and 3 would be until reading the check-in's. I chose not to even open them up until I decided if it's for me or not. Here's the thing. I have not been able to work out with weights for almost a year and even when I did, I had to keep the weight low. I normally didn't go very high anyway. I was trying to figure out what my desires would be in the future. Maybe I would enjoy doing that type of intensity down the road. You know how we all go through phases of exercising. Sometimes we focus more on weights, or cardio, pilates or yoga. I've certainly had my share of switching flavors of the month. I haven't been able to work out because of the strains in my neck/shoulders and back and now I have problems in both arms, one elbow and my hip. (Geesh, I'm a real mess, aren't I? :() I don't know when I'd be able to lift a weight again. I'm having these areas addressed but I've been plagued with issues for a long time and the problems have just exacerbated in the past year. So, do I hold on to something that I don't know if I'd even be able to use or let them go? I certainly could use the money as I'm currently not working on top of everything. I would hold on to Meso 1 as I do like some of those workouts. Honestly, I've had no desire to work out at all in any shape or form. Will that change? I hope so but don't know when. I have quite a collection of exercise videos (yep, will NEVER give those up!:p) and dvd's so I've got plenty of others to use. What should I do? Any and all thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you!

Bam, sorry to hear of all your troubles. I wish I had an answer to your question. I tend to keep all of my workouts. Even the one's I know deep down I'll never do again  I guess a reasonable option would be to keep Meso 1 because it sounds like you liked it. You could sell the other mesocycles and later download the individual workouts that you might think you would want. Give your body the time it needs to heal and who knows what you might be ready to do later.

BTW, I pre-ordered Shock Cardio and can not even do it because of foot issues. But darn it, I will not cancel!

Bam,
One way to decide could be to take a piece of paper, draw a line down the center, and one one side, list the reasons to keep, while on the other side, list the reasons to sell. (though some reasons may carry more weight than others, and should be counted twice or three times, liking being out of a job and needing the money!).

IMO, Meso 1 is the most unique and useful of the STS series. The circuit-type setup of the exercises is something Cathe usually does not do (except in Push-Pull/Supersets to some extent).

I personally have put Meso 3 on my "to sell" pile (I just previewed it, didn't try it, but it doesn't look like something I'm interested in doing. Of course, I could change my mind before I actually get rid of it, LOL! I did keep the plyo legs workouts, because I found them to be rather unique and they looked interesting).

I felt that way about Meso 3 until I actually did it and found that I liked it and was very glad I hadn't sold it. Give it a try first. You may be surprised.

Thanks, Catherine! I also like to keep all of my workouts and have a hard time giving them up but I'm trying to be logical with this set since I could get a reasonable amount of money for them, at least that's what I think. What's going on with your foot and are you anticipating a full recovery? Isn't it great what our priorities are? We find comfort in just having certain things.....even if we can only admire them just sitting on the shelf! :D

Kathryn, I like your idea of the list but I think I already know what the outcome would be. You know how hard it is to give up exercise dvd's. I also like the "idea" of doing plyometrics but I don't think my body does or ever will. Thanks for your thoughts on Meso 1 as being the most useful. I really did enjoy that and would feel good that I kept the best cycle. I wasn't quite clear on whether or not you actually have done the plyo's. If you have, can you think of me the next time you do them? Maybe my body would respond if someone else was doing them for me! :p

Unfortunately it would be probably be a long time before I could try Meso 3 and I could get more money for them if they're unopened. I'm glad you like them! Thanks for your input!

I'm having the same problem. I've been having problems with my feet for a year now and won't be able to do STS Shock Cardio. But I'll be darned if I'm canceling my order in case I can use it at some point in the future.

The fact that you are even considering selling them should tell you something. After all, you've said yourself that you tend to keep workout dvds that you don't use just for the sake of having them on the shelf. So, my suggestion is to sell Meso 2 &3 unopened. Someday, if you want them again, download a week from one of those Mesos (or buy a week off the swaps) and see what you think then. It's not like these are Disney Collectible dvds that are only sold every 10 years!! :p They'll still be around if you decide you want to get into this style of lifting.

Best part of selling them? You can use the $$ to buy other workout dvds that you might like even more that are better suited for you to use NOW. :)

JMHO.

Thanks Jonahnah. It seems like I probably should let them go. I'm not 100% there yet but at least I'm talking about it so I can make a decision.

You mean Cathe won't become a Disneylike collectible? Hmmmm, I bet some would question that! :D Maybe we could get Mickey to do STS. Does he have enough fingers to grasp a weight? :p

One last thing. If I do decide to sell them, where is the best place to do so? I have never sold anything online and am challenged when it comes to that so I need things simple, simple, simple! Could you give me some guidelines as to how I should price them? I just looked at ebay to see what they were going for to get an idea. Do I include shipping or if not, how do you determine what price that should be?

Sorry but this area of selling is just not my forte'. I appreciate your suggestions.

Thanks again.

Hi again Bam,

I sent you a PM about how Amazon works for marketplace selling. I wasn't sure if SNM would appreciate a post about how to make $$ reselling their products.

I agree with Jonahnah. If you cannot forsee yourself using Meso 1 and 2 in the next year, sell them. Get something you will use NOW.

Getting rid of stuff has a way of clarifying the mind! Cathe workouts are not, dare I say it, indispensable items. Sometimes, you need something else more, even if the something is not being reminded of what you currently cannot do due to temporary physical limitations.

Thanks Jonahnah for the info. I sent you a response. :)

Clare, getting rid of stuff is a great thing. I've got a LOT of mind clearing to do! :D Thanks for helping me to make a decision. What you said certainly makes sense.
