Should I get a weighted vest?

The reason I'm asking is this: I don't do squats in the traditional way with a barbell. Instead, I use the stability ball, put it between me and the wall, and squat going up and down the wall, using dumbbells as weights. I'm wondering if it would be wise to add addtional weight against the ball, and whether the weights in the vest would poke the ball.

Anybody have any advice or experiences? Thanks!

Hey cuzzin! I just bought a weight vest from Ironwear and I love it. I can't speak for all weight vests, but the Ironwear doesn't have anything sharp or rough that would damage a stability ball. It uses flexible weights that are very soft and pliable, and mold nicely to the body. Back in the day when I had a PT, she had me wear a weight vest for squats, lunges, step ups (leg presses). You can also wear the vest for cardio, and I know how much you LOVE killer cardio :p . I used to run bleachers with a gal who wore a weight vest (yes, I, mf545, used to run bleachers -- but not with a weight vest  ) .

P.S. this is what I have http://www.ironwearfitness.com/20-lb-univest-short-professional-weighted-ve.html

The weighted vest is designed to reduce the amount of weight on a barbell. Remember, the barbell has to be lifted overhead and many people can't lift as much with their arms as they can with their legs. Based on how you're doing squats (w/ dbs), you would only need heavier dbs to increase your workload. HTH!

Chocolate IS the answer, regardless of the question.

I purchased a weighted vest from Walmart for $49.99 and I use it all the time. I use it on my treadmill, when I am running up and down the stairs with laundry, etc. The one I purchased goes up to 20 pounds.
