Should I do a lower body workout?

Worknprogress

Cathlete
I am taking a break from STS Weights this month and will start back in February or March. I just took 2 weeks off for recovery (was only supposed to be one! Oops!) I started back up this week. I have done PUB and 4 of the new Shock Cardio workouts - HIIT 30/30, Athletic Step, HIIT Pyramid and Cardio Core Circuit.

I didn't expect my legs to be sore at all but they are. I was going to do a lower body weight workout tomorrow but since I am experiencing DOMS today, should I skip it and do upper body weights tomorrow instead of Sunday giving my legs a break tomorrow?

Thoughts? Advice?

I would suggest doing a "total body" workout. If you have had a couple of days since the HIIT workouts, you could take a total body workout in and just use med - light weights for the "lower" portion

HIIT and tough cardio work the legs every bit as much as a weighted workout. What you need is to get blood flow through the muscles but not introduce more stress upon them which the microscopic tears in the muscle caused by weight training would most certainly be. I would encourage a light cardio workout, a powerwalk would be the best thing. Powerwalking or running when I have doms in the lower body gets rid of it completely. The first 15-20 mins is not pleasant but it gets the job done! So, do this and yes, do the upper body so you feel happy mentally that you are working out "hard."
