Short, intense workouts

Cathe, my schedule has changed in the last year, and I am finding myself with less and less time to work out.

I used to work out for minimum of an hour a day, but lately, I can only squeeze in 1/2 hour and even that's hard. Am working 2 -- and sometimes 3 jobs now and the the workouts need to be short but intense.

So far, I do your anaerobics drills for a couple of days a week -- those are short -- and then the Total Body Sculpting for 27 minutes as a full body weight-type of workout -- I go heavy.

Then I have to cut up the circuit workouts into two days.

Anyway, I would so love a series of intense, short -- 30 minute workouts. I'm an advanced exerciser and so it's hard for me to realize I have to cut it short, but I do have to. How I long for the days when I had more leisure time to work out.

This would be my request for your next series of workouts.

Thanks for your tremendous creativity on these workouts. I used to do lots of different instructor's workouts, but for about 2 years now -- I do only yours. No one else is as intense, yet as structured for weight work, etc. I do appreciate your work so much.:D

I agree, we do need some shorter workouts. I find myself having a hard time fitting in workouts every now and then. Would love to be able to pull up a short workout to do when time is a factor.

What about CTX? That has short cardio, would that help or is that too easy? The STS cardio is supposed to have several short high intensity workouts. There are supposed to be 3 HIIT workouts at 20 minutes each. I don't know if that would help. Still, I think that its a good suggestion. Maybe a whole disc of just 30 min workouts? Aimed at very advanced exercisers?

Short Intense Workouts

Hello,

I completely agree in today's busy working world it's hard to find extra time to fit in long workouts. I used to run professionally and spent hours a day working out and training. After I was injured and took a job in the corporate world, my days went from running to sitting and I no longer had time to put in the workout hours. I was worried that my lack of time for exercise would cause me to lose the physique I had worked so hard at.
I now had 30 - 45 min a day to work out and so I designed workouts to maximize my time. I do a lot of tempo running (tempo means picking up the pace up to a level that is uncomfortable, in other words you can talk but it is not easy). Try a 25 min run, with 10- 15 min of tempo in the middle, then add sprints at the end. Anything with explosive movement such as sprints really helps you get in shape and drop weight fast.
I also do a lot of plyometric workouts, which includes burpees, jumping, bounding, box jumping etc. This type of workout is much more effective then doing mundance cardio for an hour or more.
I am a bit advocate of quality over quantity, it's all about intensity!
I have many more workout examples, let me know if you are interested :)

Trust me, I completely understand, but thanks to these workouts I've stayed in the same shape I was in when I was running full time!!
