Shoes for weak ankles

Any feedback on the Ryka N-gage from people who are looking for a bit more support around the ankle? They look like they have a high-top and with the ankle/foot issues I have been having lately, I think they might be a good solution for me. My last few pairs of aerobics shoes have been Rykas and I have loved them - my current pair is the Enlight II but they are in need of replacement. Any feedback would be greatly apppreciated (or if anyone has successfully worked to strengthen the muscles of their ankle/foot and wouldn't mind sharing their techniques)

Thanks!

RS,

I have the Ryka N-Gages and I love them. I think the first couple of workouts it takes some getting used to, but they offer a lot of support for your ankles. They offer a good combination of stability, cushion, and support. I have used them with my BOSU aerobics (I am a beginner with the BOSU so these shoes have saved my ankles), step aerobics, weight training, hi/lo, and even on my elliptical. I do think that a good running shoe is better for the elliptical and treadmill, since the N-Gages aren't runners. Hope this helps:)

YES YES YES!!! My (wonderful) DH is working on rehabilitating his ankles so that he can run and he has strength exercises for the ankles that he does everyday!

Get ankle weights. Put shoes one. Wrap one ankle weight (low poundage to start) around the foot...not the ankle. Lay on left side if working left ankle. Slowly lift foot using the ankle. Lay on other and lift ankle in opposite direction.

Let me see if he can get me a link that shows some of the stuff he has been doing. His PT had him doing a ton of stuff that has worked great! I'll be back...give me a minute, he might be in a meeting and unable to help me right away...

Thanks for the advice, my N-Gage should be arriving in the next week or so! The rehab exercises look like they will be very helpful, thanks to your dh for sharing!
