Shoes for high insteps!

Please can you all help me. I do loads of Cathe step and kickbox and I've been wearing Nike Shox trainers which are OK for impact but lately I've been feeling that they are just not supporting my insteps properly (I've got fairly high insteps). Have any of you had problems with this and if so which shoes have you found are suitable. I live in the UK & may be able to get some Ryka's here if I search hard! By the way, has anyone tried the N-Gage Instructor shoe?

Thank you!

Emma:)

Emma,
I have high insteps which are falling. So, I relate all too well. Try going to the Road Runner Sports website. They have a chart or key which will tell you which shoes are good for high arches, flat arches, normal arches, feet that overpronate, underpronate, heavy runners...you name it. There are several makes of athletic shoes that cater to high arches and they carry most of them. I've tried Adidas and Brooks running shoes for high arches (the names always change from year to year, so I can't tell you for sure what the shoes were called) and found both to be good. RRS also sells cross trainers, trail runners and some low hikers.
Hope this helps and if you find a workout shoe that you love, please post!

I have very high arches and wear Rykas with a special gel insert. I can't just wear the shoes as is. I just went to a special shoe store recently and they highly advocated Brooks, too. They said they key to a good shoe was that if you twisted the whole shoe, it wouldn't bend in half. They demonstrated on a New Balance shoe that was too flexible.

Thanks for that info Amy. I'm in the UK and haven't heard of Brooks before but I'll check out the Road Runner Sports Website.

Thanks to Dayna too - I have tried to find some good inserts for the arch. We seem to have ball of foot, heel of foot inserts over here but have yet to find the arch inserts! Think I'll pay a visit to my local Scholl shoe shop as they're good with feet!

If I have any success I will definitely post!

I am wondering about those special stores and Brooks. I went to one a couple of years ago and they highly recommended Brooks. Although they didn't do the twisty test, but I walked out with a pair and it was too late when I realized that I absolutely HATE them!!! The totally hurt my feet!
