Good morning ladies..

Ok, I am sore today. But, thankfully not as bad as last weekend. I think I will be able to function today. Which is good since I have Maximum Intensity Cardio to do today...

Hope everyone is having a great weekend so far..

Be back later..

Morning Kathy and all who follow!

UGh, so I was going to do MIC yesterday but my foot felt funny all day so I decided against it. I asked Joe to massage the foot that was bothering me and he literally could feel the misalignment and was like, don't even think about doing cardio. It does feel better but I dunno...Joe woke me up at 230a and I'm exhausted and I still feel..."funny." But I really want to do cardio since Joe and I splurged on pizza and a netflix movie last night. It was really nice to do and I think we needed it but oh! the calories! So, I'll figure out something with my foot. The ortho people were stunned that I was having such weird problems after such a long time of progress but they said I could send it back to the people who make it since I bought the extended warranty and they could maybe put in an extra piece of support for my forefoot. Can't hurt right?

Kathy -- wohoo to it not being as bad as last weeekend! Have fun with MIC today!

Good morning! Happy Saturday!! Kathy, maybe you could work in an epsom salt bath sometime today? They really do seem to help!

Hottie, sorry about your foot, but I have an idea! Take up swimming! Seriously, maybe you should think about it -- there must be a pool at the university, right?

Joanne, how did the sleepover workout? That was last night, right? Hope a good time was had!

Chris, you are too funny with my STS answer! To clue everyone else in, I'm starting tomorrow, even though Chris won't start til Monday, because I like my rest days on Fridays. Well, honestly, I don't care when the rest day is but I like to take advantage of more time in the mornings on the weekends. Though sometimes during soccer season that is not the case! And of course if we have a sleepover here that's not so great either. Sheesh, listen to me -- sometimes I'm a basket case.

Vilma, if you're out there -- thought about you this morning since I did ccpp -- but, it was so darn hot I ended up leaving off the last two challenges! It was still a 45 minute workout. Good 'nuf! It's going to be super hot today, I think -- never did cool off last night. They talked about shortening the soccer quarters if it's hot -- I hope they do (for the kids' sake!).

Since Larry's sick, our friends did not end up coming down last night -- we had scrambled eggs for dinner and then all four of us got into bed and watched "My Dog Skip". Dylan and I were sobbing near the end! Dylan was so sweet having so much empathy for the dog and the kid. Good movie, and based on a true story. We got it from netflix.

Have a great day!! Oh, Joanne.... guess what I did already today?! I washed Larry's wallet (third time in our years together, I believe it is). Ugggg!!!

Hey Girls!

Feeling ok here. A bit more tired than usual this morning, almost fearing I had "relapsed", but no, it's just my regular tired! I ended up doing a Turbo Jam workout: Cardio Party Remix. It's a good 30 minute TJ, with 2 "blasts" at the end. I did feel a little more fatigued during the workout, not my usual energy. That's why I wanted to keep it down to a 30 min. cardio today.. And then my mind starts turning, reading some of the posts on OD. Maybe I should tone down the cardios. Maybe I shouldn't do those LONG 60+ Minute Cathe cardios with STS. Just thinking, ya know? I do know I will run when I can (and that is NOT 60+ minutes for sure!), but maybe do a premix/shortened version of whatever Cathe has for the STS Rotation? Does anyone else ever think they should cut back on the length of the cardios?

So I'm preparing to go to work tonight! I'm a little afraid now, for making the "looking forward to it" statement earlier this week! LOL!. They called me last night to come in because they were VERY short. SO short, in fact, they offered a BONUS. Which is insane, since our Supervisor is soooo tight and bitchy about her 'budget'. NO OT EVER, was her motto. So it must have been bad there last night. (I couldnt' work because Greg was , and no sitter).

Kathy: Glad to hear your legs arent horrible like last week! I do NOT envy MIC. I know you said it wasn't your favorite either. I know, I only do it when I'm "forced" to! And I truly have to be in the mood , or I will sub with something else.

Hottie: Sorry your foot is bad!! Weird that you could FEEL it misaligned. Maybe you could do a non weight bearing workout? Is the eliptical nonweight bearing? Or a bike ride? ..... That sucks you had an icky day yesterday at work, and then the commute too. Nothing like being stuck in the car and your head and tummy don't feel good. The pizza and movie sound like a perfect treat for your crappy day!

Beth
: I think 45 Minutes of CCPP is AMAZING for a workout! ... It's so weird to hear you and Hottie talk about how hot it is there. We definitely have the weather you want. Cool, sunny, crisp! Though there is a tinge of coolness in the house this morning making me think I need to turn on the heat soon!.... hey, whatever works for you for STS, we'll be doing it together this week either way! Sounds like you had a nice movie night with the kids last night. We haven't done that in a while. I love it too. Alex cried like that when we watched Marley & Me (he insisted we watch it , KNOWING th ending, since he read the book!). I bawled like a baby too!

Joanne
: It was funny reading your post about the late start to the Mehndi ceremony. Apparently it is also a Puerto Rican tradition to do the same! A girl I work with was talking about it one night. She said if ANYTHING like a baby shower, or bridal shower or bday party is supposed to start at a certain time, it is ALWAYS 2 hours later that it actually starts. She said if you come at the start time, you'll be alone with the decorations for 2 hours!!! Weird 'tradition'! ... Hope Jameson's sleepover went ok with just the one boy! poor kid that no one could come. I bet he would have fun with one friend though, anyways! .... Hey and I saw you did 60 minutes on the TM yesterday!!! good job!!! Oh yeah, snack buying for kids always bites me in the butt!!!

Hey Vilma!! : I thought of you too last week, I found a tea shop locally and went and bought some tea leaves. The girl made up individual tea bags for me to sample ... Very good tasting (most of them, I didn't like all the flavors I picked), BUT..they seemed kind of weak tasting compared to store tea bags. Is that normal or was it just because there weren't a lot in the bags?.... Hope you have some relax time this weekend!!

Hope you guys have a nice weekend!!!
Off to "chore-land" for now....

Hi everyone..

Made it through MIC...I am ok with the hi/lo part. But, for some reason I am not crazy about the step. Maybe because it is a hard step workout and by the time I get to it I am already pooped..That could be it..Anyway, done with it for today!!

Getting ready to for afternoon activities...Lauren has choir practice and the choir is singing in mass tonight...Chris has a baseball game!!

Hottie: Ouch! Hope that foot is better. Maybe a very low impact cardio or a walk with be ok....

Beth: I will try that bath. Need to get some Epsom salt though. Really the soreness isn't too bad..Yeah to you and Chris getting back on the STS program..

Chris: Glad you are feeling good..Cutting back cardio is a though if you think it is interferring with your progress..I have often thought that too. I know my running days are NEVER 60 minutes..more like 25 minutes and some walking. But, I so often feeli I need that sweatfest with cardio. Days I don't have energy I do low impact or the elliptical or walk...Hope you have a good night at work. Too bad you couldn't get that bonus last night! That would have been nice on the paycheck...

Back from soccer.... it's 93 degrees out there and no shade in sight on that soccer field -- those poor kids!! Both boys lost again, though Travis game was close. In the last quarter of Dylan's game, the ref blows the whistle and says "Number 6 doesn't have shin guards!" Guess who number six is?! Stopped the whole game! "They're itchy!" Those refs are on it! (they are high school and middle school siblings of the players).

Chris, I thought you usually worked on Fridays and that's why it was OSIF! Too bad you couldn't collect on that bonus, especially since you were so ready to go back to work.

Cutting back on cardio.... in fact, I have been. Because I've wanted to get more stretching in on this injury, I've had a lot of days with just 30 minutes cardio, where I used to always do an hour. I think it's a good deal -- I've been able to keep my appetite more in check lately, and well, you know, the bones and the joints ain't getting any younger! Try it for a while, I say!

Kathy, you're funny talking about MIC and the step being hard! :D

Chris, I meant to ask you about the tea shop -- they actually made custom bags for you, or did you just get loose?

Oh, and how crazy is this idea? Shortening the upper body meso 1 workouts and doing them both on the same day to I could get in a full body workout later in the week. Crazy, right? I'm not going to try it right away (because of the injury), but it is an idea that occurred to me -- I have so many fun total body dvds that I miss when doing STS (and kettlebell, for that matter -- I know that I can sort of count kbell as cardio, but I like the strength work too).

We are just back and I cannot face all the chores I must do. But, I suppose I had better. Sure feels good to sit down for a minute!!

Quickie, I'm almost out the door to work!

I've always worked Sat and Sun nights. It's OSIF, like how you feel on Sundays when you have to work the next day? That's how Friday feels, like the Sunday depression.

I think I just might try the shorter cardios, Beth. It can't hoit!

Kathy: I've always dreaded the hi/lo in MIC. We make a good team! Although I do remember last time I did it, the step really sucked for me too! LOL!

Gotta run!
Think good night at work for me thoughts!!!!

P.S.

Yes, Beth. the girl had her own tea bags, unbleached, and put in fresh tea leaves that I picked out and made BAGS! She said you could do that or buy the ball thingie. She said to sample them, (and less messy) is the bags.

My, I've been enjoying for the most part today. Well, I lounged and ate junk with Joe while watching TV in the morning. And even though there was a voice in my head saying, work out before your mother calls you, do it, or she's going to spoil your mood, I didn't listen. She called, and it isn't that SHE spoiled my mood, the news did. After I hung up the phone Joe looked at me said, "Do you want to go shopping to feel better?" "YES PLEASE!" Nothing too exciting -- HD and Costco. Got a paint match up correctly and bought an attic ventilator for under $70. Went to Costco and spent a loooot like usual but its for a lot of necessary stuff at good prices. No vacuum though -- they didn't have what I wanted in the store. Came home and just hung out...literally WATCHED Joe do small things while I futzed with him. We also took the ventilator out and I'm amazed, Joe's MechE training is finally going to come in useful as I don't know how to do grounded wiring. We'll see how long it takes him to do it though...I eventually did BM2 Cardio Blast Premix and added 20 minutes of floor mish mosh work from the super crunch slim down pilates dvd. Beautiful sweat. And I'm glad I waited since my foot felt better by then. Also, we started cooking a lot -- chicken cutlets fresh plus a different twist of shepherd's pie. Evee misbehaved though..out of the blue she just took a piss. I'm worried she may be sick but Joe thinks is solely for attention. I have to drop by USC but waiting for the best time since there's a game at the coliseum and then when we come back we're going to make desserts! I think Joe's going to make banana bread and I'm going to try a fro yo recipe. We should try to go to bed relatively early though...we're going to the Wiggle Walk which is fundraising for my local humane society...

Chris -- I'm sending good thoughts your way! My friend bought me special tea bag stuff too but its so fancy I don't want to open it.
Beth -- ::blush:: I can't swim...I really wish I could...stupid Caltech doesn't have a swimming requirement and I'm lazy...I hope Larry is feeling better! I don't think I've ever washed Joe's wallet but I've found it in unique places.
Kathy -- I definitely need a sweatfast with cardio or I feel like I wasted my time. I'm a bit of a junkie...I don't think I could ever cut back my cardio like the others!

Ok off to get Joe off the couch! Good night!

Morning sleepy heads! I'm getting ready to head out to the Rose Bowl for the Wiggle Walk in a bit and then when I come back I'm going to do STS Legs. Hope you all are having a great weekend!

Wow, really?! No one has posted yet this morning? I feel like I've been up forever, and everyone in my house is still asleep! I got through STS disc 1 and some other mish-moshed stuff -- waist/abs. And, I previewed a new workout I'm going to do tomorrow: Mindy's Workout. Anyone have it? I think it's new -- and it's my first Mindy. Looks good. Anyone have a bosu?

I went super light on weights today -- I'm not sure I'll even have doms, but it felt like the right thing to do. I did do some modified pushups, and then I skipped some altogether. So many pushups!

Hottie, good workout yesterday -- good for you! How are your feet today?

Chris, how was work? Good, hopefully! Waves to Kathy, Joanne, and Vilma!

Oh, and you know what I realized doing STS today? You know how I've mentioned that my arms are just big? No definition at all. Well, I realized Brenda is like that -- she's an amazing athlete, obviously, but her body is just different, and doesn't show the definition -- that's how I am. I do sometimes wonder if STS is the right thing for me (or not). Oh well, whatever -- it's a great workout!

I have got to do chores today! This house, my car, my purse even -- all a discombobulated mess and it makes me feel so frazzled! It's got to be improved! So hot again -- it was over 100 yesterday, and never cooled down in the night. We're off to Treasure Island this afternoon and I sure hope it's got A/C!!

You're a minute late Beth! I just got back from the Rose Bowl. We left early because the sun was coming out hot and fast. Lots of dogs and Evee had a blast and a lot of awesome people. In a bit STS legs but just trying to chill a little more... Have fun with all those chores Beth! It was over 100 too here...hence the attic ventilator purchase. but well see if/when it gets installed. I have bulky arms too with no definition...so they just look fat...

So Hottie, do you think there's no hope for our arms, ever? I'm really wondering if I ought to go back to ligher weight/higher rep for arms, or something!

Sounds like you had a great morning! I have gotten a whole bunch done -- feeling a lot better about things! Tomorrow it's supposed to be slightly cooler here -- maybe a high of 80. I just saw one of our random pictures come up with the kids and me outside with sweatshirts on. "Sweatshirts! I want to wear a sweatshirt!"

Just got done STS Legs Disc 6 and I did the bonus this time. I was a bit stupid...I wore my glasses thinking it was a weight workout and not a big deal but my glasses kept on slipping whenever we did anything where we lowered our bodies which was all throughout the workout. Still I liked it! I may feel pain tomorrow though in my inner thighs...I fear I may have overreached something (which is hilarious considering that I never can go as deep as the people on the screen!).

Beth -- well, I wonder if its body fat because my sister got a more sculpted look when she was like 18% body fat but I also could really see her abs then...But Joe asked me, if you want skinny arms, stop doing what you're doing. If you want to actually be strong, keep on doing Cathe. So, I'm going to do Cathe.

SWEATSHIRTS! I wish!! It was 85 at the Rose Bowl before I left and I don't think it was even 930!

**WAVES** to all!!

Sunday Quickie:

Busy/steady/pretty decent night at work last night. Kind of good to be back, but got super tired, and got a tired headache at the end.

Woke up after 5 hours of sleep with a, I swear, a migraine headache. Hurt SOOO bad, and felt like barfing.

Took 2 Excedrin Migraine, took the edge off.

Back to work tonight.

REALLY looking forward to STS again tomorrow!!!

GREAT workouts today girls!!!!

Beth, I'm always questioning what workouts are best for me , I swear. Who do you think could answer that type of question? A Personal Trainer? I think I'd like to try some day to find out.

HI ladies...

I think we all question our workouts choices...I know I like the definition Cathe's workout have given my muscles. As soon as I can get rid of more of the fat, I will be able to see more of them..

Anyway, today was a stretch/rest day...So, I did stretch max segment #2 and I did tomorrow's ab workout medicine ball abs. I did the whole workout and pretended to pass it. I just went through the motions..

I also got some errands done like the grocery store...

Talk to you all tomorrow!!

Anyone still around? Chris, sorry to hear about the migraine! Sure hope you feel ok through work.

Kathy, good idea on the abs -- I did it with Travis once, but the time I did it by myself I just turned it off at the partner portion.

Ok, so, the thing about body fat getting lower and seeing the muscle more.... I don't think Brenda has a whole lot of body fat on her, you know? I mean, she's probably not super low, and mine could obviously be lower, but I have a feeling if I worked hard enough to get it down lower, I think I'd still look like Brenda! Ok, nothing actually wrong with that...... I dunno!

Larry was just telling me about other motorcycle gear he is buying -- he's spending a small fortune, so I told him I was not going to feel guilty about buying exercise dvds, and he said "You shouldn't! They make you look great. Buy more!"

Chris -- you poor thing! I hope you can get through the evening. I'm going to try and pull a Beth tomorrow for STS but I hope my legs can survive through the morning. I'm super psyched about tomorrow's workout too!

Kathy -- oh, you're reminding me to work on my abs. That's cool how you did the partnered stuff.

Beth -- you know, I'm really not sure. We have this friend (Evee's former daddy, we call him grandaddy to Evee though), who has been looking ripped but its soley cuz he's lost body fat because *I* can lift more than he can. Joe's muscles are certainly bigger than his but his looks "fatter" because you can't see the rippedness (yes, I made the word up). Frankly, I would love to see more muscle definition...so my arms wouldn't look fat and so that I could see a two pack (nope, have no ambition for a six pack)...we'll see how I do after STS. I'm not taking weekly pictures but I am going to take one after each cycle. So, we'll see...as I snarf down banana bread (mmmm) and homemade froyo (red mango and pinkberry can kiss my butt)...
