September 08 Check-in__Sept 2nd__

Vilma, oh yea, I hear ya' on the kitchen being closed!! I'm 46 (when did that happen?) and I think I'd die! My grandma had my mom when she was 48. Not happening here! What is the Woman's Active pack? Vitamins? Do any/all of you take any kind of vitamins? I don't and thinking maybe I should. Could be why I feel so tired sometimes. I know I don't always eat right.

Ivy, my daughter was excited to go. She was nervous before orientation last week, but I could tell she really liked the teacher. She was asking all weekend when she could go to school. I'm anxious to see how she did today. It's her first long day - almost seven hours is a long time for a 5-year-old. It really was a bittersweet day. Not to get too melodramatic, but so many times we really weren't sure we would see this day. We knew she had heart problems before she was born and were told it was very likely she would have other issues and given the option not to have her. I couldn't even consider that. She had two surgeries and lots of physical and speech therapy. They thought she might be developmentally delayed. Well, there she was today walking into the first day of kindergarten, proving everyone wrong!! It was bittersweet, though, because I know we have to pull her out in two weeks for her surgery and she'll be out a month.

Lori, I know, the school supplies are neverending!! I find it hard to believe my fifth grader will go through 24 pencils this year. ;) It's still really warm here - in the 90's I think. We've had a relatively cool summer, though. I like the cooler temperatures in the fall for running, there's no way I can run in the heat.

Hottie, I have to echo Beth's rave about cardio coach. Awesome!! It's hard to explain - you have to run to one to get the full effect! You can download them at www.cardiocoach.com.

Better go do some work!...

Joanne: I didn't know she had heart problem, but I'm so glad that she proved everyone wrong and she is still here. God is GREAT!! That's so wonderful that she is excited about Kindergarten:). I will pray that everything goes wonderful in her surgery in two weeks, please keep us posted on how she does in surgery. (((Hugs)))

Justine, one of my employees lives in Mississauga -- I'll have to ask him if they've been affected at all.

Joanne, the first day of kindergarten had to be hugely emotional given all you guys have been through -- I knew of the heart issue, but didn't realize there was all that other stuff going on. How exciting that she's there and likes her teacher and all!

No STS in my mailbox today..... I'm shocked! :)

My husband made the directory name.... do you suppose he's assuming there's going to be a cathe-2009? :) If you want to see them bigger, click on a picture and then you can go forward through them from there.

Hey Everyone...

This is a busy place today!...

Hottie: the low impact work sounds good for today. BM2 and Low Max are tough workouts!!

Joanne
: Awwwwww... that is SOOO bittersweet about your daughter getting to where she is today!! The first day of K is hard enough to take!! But you must be super proud of her. She sounds very smart for 5 ! My boys started K when they just turned 6, and they needed that extra year for sure. I bet she'll do fine missing school...

Beth:
You are cracking me up about STS coming today! I'm now thinking, "Maybe she's right! Maybe this week!!!!" OMG..LOVE the pictures of the Road Trip!! I love the one of you and Cathe... She's all sweaty and looks out of breath, and you're cool and collected! (Plus I love that blue top). Amazing how you were in all those places with Cathe and crew! The studio, the gym... just soooo freakin cool!!

Lori:
Yeah, we need to take our pool down soon too. The water gets WAY too cold from the cool night air. Plus the kids are all into school now, they won't get in much more this year. LOL @ the brownies!!! Who started this last week talking about BLONDIES! Was it you Beth or Joanne?

Kathy:
Nice to see you! Sorry you can't stay and play more... C&W was a good choice. Are you having a hard time choosing workouts too?

Vilma:

@ the kitchen is closed! I know what you mean. I'm 45, and I'm still afraid to give away the boys' baby clothes, because I think it will "jinx" me!

Joanne: I do take vitamins. I take a multivitamin once a day (whatever is on sale or whatever strikes me at the time), plus a Calcium chew ( you REALLY should be taking calcium supplements!! It's soooo important for gals "our age". I think they recommend 1000mg a day! and then 1200mg for over 50!). I also usually take Zinc (to keep the bugs away) and Vitamin D if I don't go outside. Oh and, Fish Oil capsules.

Off I go, getting ready to serve MORE brownies and MORE ice cream, and sing HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my Alex!

Ta Ta for now!

I started on the blondies last week, and now I need some very important clarification.... does that "calories don't work on broken brownie pieces" work on leftover birthday cake eaten over the garbage can? I'm sure that must be the same rule -- certainly not fresh bday cake, but the leftovers definitely. I have serious problems here today!!!

Oh, and on the vitamin topic.... I *hate* swallowing pills! It's so hard for me, so I take them once in a while, but I'm really bad about making myself do it.
