~*~*SEPT 09 CHECK-IN for Thurs, 9/3~*~*

OMG, I just typed out a HUGE post, and hit something, "BAM!" it was gone! FACK!

Anyways, the gist of it being, I've had a busy busy morning with Greg coming down stairs and falling back asleep on the couch, where he still lays at almost 9:30! ... *sigh*

My workout today will wait until later this afternoon since I have the 2nd half of my CPR class at 10:30am. I'm doing LIS/Shoulders, Calves, Core (what a weird combination! LOL!).

Joanne: I also *heart* Jeff on BB!!! He is nice to look at, always, plus he seems nice too. Jordon is also very endearing and silly , I really like them both. Sad that one will go home tonight. I'm betting it's jeff!!! ... Rescue Me's Finale ended very oddly. I'm not sure this was one of my favorite seasons. I didn't like that Tommy was sleeping with Janet and Sheila and then that new woman came towards the end. He's not THAT hot, Geesh! ..... Funny how we both ended up having kids a bit later in our marriages. I had a miscarriage my first pregnancy, so that pushed things back for us too. But we intentionally waited the first 6 years, we traveled and had an 'extended honeymoon'! (now the honeymoon is DEFINTELY over... ;))

Beth: Hope your head feels better today! Mine is completely gone, thank GOD. That was totally miserable!! Curious as to what you will do for your workout today????? I know you'll surprise us! Maybe you can still start STS on the 14th, if your shoulder is better and you lift lighter on chest/back? See how you feel, but don't hurt yourself!

*BIG WAVE* to Kathy! Hottie! Vilma!!!

Good morning, check-in buddies!! Chris, I ended up looking ahead a bit to decide my workout. With a three day weekend, I decided I could run two days -- Saturday and Monday, therefore..... drumroll please..... I went with cardio today -- Firm Cardio Party. It was sort of fun for a change of pace, but pretty easy/steady state, so where ever I could I modified to make it higher impact and thus more heart pumping. Thank goodness for Cathe is all I can say, because I found it pretty easy to modify most of the moves in ways that Cathe does things. Except for Ally's portion which was latin dance, which I ended up treating as a cooldown because I couldn't figure out how to modify and I could barely follow anyway! :p It was 40 minutes, so I tacked on about 20 minutes of stretching after. Feeling good!

I'm getting pretty psyched about starting on the 14th (well, the weekend before -- sorry, but starting on the weekend works better for me) -- I am worried about the pushups -- everything else I figure I can just use a lighter weight if necessary. Pushups are pretty hard to modify.

Also had my babies later in life, but unfortunately Larry and I did not have so much time to ourselves beforehand, since we met later in life. We are sad we don't have that shared history, but it's worked out fine. I had 5 pregnancies for two babies, for what that's worth! I'm not sure if it was my age or what.....

have a great Thursday!

Good morning ladies..

I couldn't get on the computer this morning. Hubby is working at home and using my spot. So, I may not get back on here today.

My workout today is HIS with chest and back...I have been enjoying the 4 day split this week!! Tomorrow I will do some cardio...

ok, back to school lessons..

Ahhh...I finally got some sleep last night. Unfortunately, it cut into my morning workout but that's ok. Do you retain water if you don't sleep for a couple nights? Because both my waist line and my scale seem to reflect that. I hope to get to the school gym today but I have a ton of stuff to do this morning. I never got my circuit in because I spent three hours yesterday sort of crying/venting about some of my hubby issues to actually his friends and though it was good, man, it can be emotionally draining...but I'm really glad I got it out as I always feel better afterwards. So I ate two cupcakes last night instead!

Chris -- I started writing longer posts in a notepad window because of the losing of posts issue. Ahh...honeymoons. I really wanted to travel to Europe before Joe and I started trying but I don't think with the house and the dock in pay from cutting out OT it's going to happen for us. But you'll never know...maybe one weekend i'll have to not be on the forums because I'm in Milan...

Beth -- I'm glad you're feeling better. I wouldn't mind starting on the weekend too -- you should share your schedule so I can try to match it up! Joe is freaking out btw. I've been on his case about doing his 1RMs but he's just too lazy and frankly, if I can get him to do something, i'm getting him to help with the house before the 1rms. Hopefully with the long weekend, he can dedicate some time as a real weight workout. I'm actually pretty well off except for the leg work. Mostly because the leg work scares me...yeah, cuz that attitude is going to help...

I know this sounds silly but I thought about taking weekly pictures, weigh ins, and measurements for me and Joe to track the STS experiment. Have you guys ever done that?

Hottie, I didn't really do leg 1RMs -- maybe deadlifts is all. Basically, I knew that I wouldn't be doing the strength in meso 3 -- no capability of going heavy enough, plus, I was already sort of on the kick that I didn't want to go real heavy on my legs anyway. So, I just winged it.

I'll send you rotation stuff from home sometime -- I already wrote in a bunch on my calendar. I am planning to sub in barre work for legs, I think. Maybe not meso 2, as I really enjoyed those trisets (that was meso 2, wasn't it?!). I may just have to try some legs -- we'll see, but I am really like the barre work for the lower body.

I heard on the radio that it's a little cooler down there today -- good for the fire, though they still have a long way to go! Yikes. Also heard about the finger biting incident at the healthcare rally in Thousand Oaks! Holy cow! I will have to see if any of my mom's friends were involved. ;)

well, its 100+ degrees today and with the humidity it's rather aggravating but I know its makes it better for the fires. I don't think I'm in a threatening point now but we're all still wary...I hope your mother's friends are ok!

Hi all!!

Today was Plyo Cardio Circuit from Insanity. These workouts are really growing on me. I must say the first week was a struggle, but I'm enjoying this week. They are still tough, but I can definitely feel my cardio endurance getting better. Maybe I'm totally crazy or it's wishful thinking, but I swear my core is pulled in more. No where near flat by any means, but feels tighter. My legs a bit too. Tomorrow is the Cardio Recovery workout, so I might add on a P57, run or maybe do the Insanity Upper Body workout. Or, sleep an extra 30 minutes. ;)

Hottie, 100+ degrees is cooler??? Glad to hear the fires aren't threatening you. Hope they continue to die off and stay away! Tell that hubby of yours to stop giving you issues to gripe about! ;) They're all the same - pains in the butt at times. But, we love them, right?? Well, most of the time. That's not silly at all to take pictures and measurements. I'd never take pictures just cause I'd be mortified if they ever were seen by anyone else! But that's just me. I wouldn't worry about the 1RM for legs either.

Beth, ((())) about the pregnancies. I did have at least one miscarriage - it sucks. Still hurts 14 some years later. But, look at us now - all these wonderful kids that drive us crazy! ;)

Chris, that is funny - LIS does have a weird combination of body parts. I almost always skip calf work, though. Yea, I hear ya' on the honeymoon being over!! We had a similar history - one miscarriage first after being married about six years. We had fun those years before kids. I'm looking forward to our "twilight" years when hopefully we can do some traveling. If he doesn't drive me bonkers before then! ;) Yea, it looks like Jeff will be gone tonight. sniff sniff. They are a really cute couple. Wow - I watched the season finale of Rescue Me last night. I agree - some of the stuff this season was a bit out there. But I thought the scene with Sheila and Janet and the new woman (Abby!) was hilarious. The ending was a bit dramatic and unexpected. Ya know he's not gonna die cause I think the series has been renewed.

Last night was Colin's scrimmage. He played QB the whole game for the B team. He did great. They're not having him do any passing yet, so it's all passing the ball off. He did a couple scrambles, though. One of them he got tacked really hard right in front of us. I cringed a bit but he jumped right up and got back in there.

Tonight is open house at school. This has been a crazy week. I don't think I've sat down in the house before 8:30 all week.

Hi Kathy and Vilma!

I think I'll actually go outside during my lunch for a walk. It'll be winter before we know it.

BBL...

Joanne

Hey Again!

I am officially (re) certified in CPR. There was actually some changes , and i hate when they do that, because it confuses me, I get mixed up with the OLD stuff. Anyhow, I was pretty comfortable with the adult and child. Forgetabout the baby. Hope no babies code on me!:eek:

After CPR, I went to Macy's and picked up a new purse (I had a GC to use!). And then went to the farmstand to get some fresh veggies....

AND THEN, home to do LIS/Shoulders, Calves, Core. I always forget how fun LIS is, what great choreography, huh? I think one of Cathe's best, at low impact. Shoulders was TOUGH, geesh, it was nonSTOP on my poor shoulders! calves burned, I liked the abs. Even the plank at the end was good! (very short!)

Beth: Sounds like you have a good plan there with cardio/running! I'm really wanting to do another run this week. I might do it instead of BC cardio portion (but I do love that BC!). I just hate missing out on all this good running weather and the kids in school. That Firm cardio sounds different. I was never a Firm fan, so I have no desire to do those workouts. I had a few that were very old school, in leotards, etc. Just, ick. Turned me off. Oh and I REALLY want to get my Physique workouts so I can do some of that leg work too!! I hope for next week. Maybe I'll sub some of it for STS legs too. If I like it! :)

Hottie
: YAY for finally a good night's sleep!!! I think when my sleep sucks, I tend to hold on to weight, esp around my waist/hips. It's weird. It happens BIG time on the weekend (of course I eat like crap 95% of the time too). Hope your vent about Joe helped some. Maybe his buddies can fix him up or steer him in the right direction!... Oh Milan! Cool! you never know!!!... I didn't do 1RM's for lower body either. I think like Beth, just deadlifts (which were part of back anyways). I didn't want to go super heavy with legs. And I did the Plyos in Meso 3. Didn't matter, my lower body had many DOMS during the entity of STS!! I never did do measurements or pictures. I dont' know why , I just don't feel into that stuff. Probably because I hate most pictures of myself. Poor self esteem , I know. I think it's cool to look at OTHER people's pictures though!!

Joanne
: VERY cool on you getting into Insanity even more AND feeling results!!! If Cathe doesn't have a good project out after STS Cardio, I think i might get Insanity next. I think the most important part is that you LIKE them! .... Yes, the twilight years should be fun! (or we'll both be crochety and piss each other off for the rest of our lives...LOL!!!). I do hope we can travel and do some fun stuff, just me and him, though. ...... I have one last hope for Jeff, just an inkling. You never know, BB can twist things up. I just hope Natalie doesn't win in the end. Of everyone, she bugs me the most. She hasn't done SQUAT. ... I did LOL at Rescue Me during that scene with Sheila and Janet and the new girl. Janet cracks me up every time she gets drunk (she is a funny drunk!). The fight outside was a riot!!! Yeah, i wasn't that upset about Tommy getting shot since I know he won't die! LOL!. .... It must be hard to watch Colin play football, it's such a tough game!! glad he's ok!!!! I guess those open houses are coming up here too...

I hate that the CPR took a big hole out of my day. I feel like it zoomed by and I got crap done. But I CAN now save lives, so I guess it was a good cause ! LOL!

BBL!

I'm so envious of your LIS work -- I didn't do that cardio since I wasn't doing shoulders -- I really would like to do shoulders. We'll see how the bis and tris go tomorrow.

Joanne, very cool on the insanity results! Thanks for the hugs -- all that seems so long ago and the kids make it pretty easy to forget.

Hottie, when Larry and I got married (I was already pregnant, so we did things in a bit of a hurry), we figured we could either go to Italy for a honeymoon or get an italian leather couch. We got the couch. Silly us!!!

As for the twilight years..... now that my sister is empty-nesting and coming up on retirement, she and her husband bought 20 acres of land just out of Placerville (CA) and they're going to have a Christmas tree farm and weddings. That is, they will have facilities and my sister will help coordinate caterers, florists, etc. My mom thinks they are crazy! I'm not sure. :) We saw the property this weekend -- it's beautiful. It's in the foothills of the Sierras.

Chris, congrats on the CPR -- I can imagine getting mixed up on old and new rules/practices. And, no one should have to do CPR on a baby.

Hottie, I think I took measurements, but I have no idea what I did with them, so never did do "after" measurements to compare. And, no.... no pictures! :p

Beth: I thought of you while I did LIS shoulders today, thinking this would defintely put you over the edge!! it's non-stop assault on your shoulders!! I'm expecting BIG DOMS from it tomorrow. ... You could have done LIS calves and Core!?!? I guess i hadn't done LIS in a while, because there were a few steps I had to watch first (but did get right away, I just didn't remember them). .... LOL @ choosing the leather couch!! But I guess it was more LASTING and tangible than a trip. Didn't you say you had gone to Europe?..... Oh I know, no babies needing CPR, I'm in complete agreement! .... Your sister's twilight plan sounds VERY nice, but a LOT of work too! but if she enjoys it, that's ALL that counts, right? (And it's always nice for her sister and her family to come visit too!!). Is this the sister that had the birthday party? do you only have 1 sister? It's funny the things we KNOW about each other, but then DON'T know about each other....

Yes, I could have done the step portion..... I'm not sure why I didn't want to -- maybe it was that shoulder temptation! :p

I have been to Europe -- London and Paris on one trip, Turkey and Greece on another, and I've been to the BVI a number of times. All that long before kids!

I have two sisters -- both older -- and yes, this is the same sister that threw the party -- she is a planner, for sure!
