Hello Chris and all who follow...
I have a nasty head cold...:( I was supposed to do B&G Leg Blast this morning..but I slept in instead and will do it after work! ( I hope!)
I hope everyone has a great day!! BBL

Iris

Scheduled on the rotation is Low Max. As much as I'd love to do it, I'm thinking I better not push it with my toe. So I'm going to get some cardio in from Hip Hop Abs: Fat Burning Cardio 2, and then Turbo Jam: 20 Minutes...

I think I've only done HHA once and I don't remember it at all, so this should be fun! I'm such a 'white girl' when it comes to dancing...

Iris: Sorry to hear you've got the "crud". I hate head colds!! Take care, hope you feel better later for B&G!!

~Chris

Chris, I always love your icons.

Iris, I'm sorry you have a head cold. I hoe you feel better and can tackle the workout.

I am yawning as I type this. I had to cancel Low Max yesterday because my body was telling me NO WAY. We'll see what it has to say after a big breakfast. Tomorrow is going to be my day off since I'll be stuck a this Alzheimer Disease Research Center Symposium for most of the day, still get experiments done, and I really want to watch the presidential debate live. But my *hope* is to do LowMax.

Everyone have a great day!

Hi All,

I did butts & guts this morning, which my 7 year old called "guts & glutes". :) Chris, I do not know how you could do this with a broken toe, even if you did skip lunges and whatnot -- hat off to you, white girl! And, hubby should have dragged himself away from the bill paying and done the firewalkers instead of laughing, as Cathe says. :) Enjoy your HHA. Oh, on that rotation I suggested -- do you have netflix? You could maybe get some non-step circuits that way.

Iris, feel better!

Hottie, I hope that conference is interesting for you!

Oh, yeah, I skipped the core work on B&G because my alarm didn't go off! I still woke up at 5:06, but it just wasn't enough time. Don't know that I'll get to it later..... oh well, my "butts" sure does feel it!

have a good one!
-Beth

I made it! WOW, Shaun T. sure had me dancing & sweating. As crazy as it sounds, my HR got up in the 160's with him. Maybe it wasn't the cardio, maybe it was him flashing his abs at me:

ShaunT.jpg

So yeah, my HR was UP there!

And then I kept it up there with Turbo Jam: 20 Minute Cardio Party.. Supposedly, with my HRM, I burned 500 calories for an hour + of Shaun & Chalene!

Hottie: I stole the smilies from Vilma!! I love playing with them, probably too much... Low Max is very intimidating. I know it's burned you before! ... Maybe go with something you WANT to do more? Or maybe you'll feel better today about it! Hey, about the Presidential Debate, I think it might be canceled? McCain said he wants to concentrate on the Economic Crisis right now. I thought they canceled...

Beth:
... "Guts & Glutes"..hey that may be Cathe's NEXT one! I know, I'm crazy for doing B&G. I did the walking lunges with a modification, didn't bend so low. And as long as my foot is FLAT, it feels ok. My lower body was super sore yesterday though, BEFORE B&G! Ow! I tried to get hubby to do Firewalkers, he laughed. As he laughed at me when I told him to do HHA's with me and Shaun T this morning!!!..... I don't have Netflix. I do have a few circuits. Like Hardcore Circuit Kickboxing, and then I have Kathy Smith's Project YOU Total Body Circuit. Maybe there's a nonstep circuit premix with SJP? ... I definitely want to continue lower body though. I got on a pair of jeans last night that i couldn't pull up past my thighs before! And they used to be one of my favorite pairs!!!

Today I'm going to be a bum at home. Laundry. Daytime and DVR'd TV watching. Going to make a pot of soup.... Maybe get caught up on bills and phone calls.... It's turned cloudy, supposed to downpour here tom. and Saturday. Yuck!

HI ladies..

Iris: Hope you feel better soon!!

Chris: Enjoy HHA...Don't have that one..

Beth: I have Netflix. What are some different videos that are good I should try??

HOttie: Hope you are able to get in lomax...

Today is a busy day for us. We have History Club at 1-3 and then right to the library for book checkout and art (like and art & craft thing). I am hoping to squeeze Imax 3 in before dinner..I hope to anyway!!

Chris, your pictures/icons are too funny. I loved that guy who's laying down laughing! I'm still amazed at you getting through B&G. When my 7 year old was just a few months old, I had a knife cut through a tendon in my left foot, and some of those moves are so hard for me on that side (well, it's when I have my left leg back in a lunge). The sad thing is, they're hard on both sides, I just don't feel it in my foot so much on the right. :)

Let's take a look at the premixes -- you might be amazed at what you can find in Cathe's stuff. Also, maybe you can do the step without the step? I know, it's a little crazy, but it's still a decent workout, I think. Hottie, I meant to tell you.... I almost never do an 8" step, because the HRM numbers are not that much different, and I just don't feel like it's worth the wear & tear on the joints.

I just heard on the radio that the debates aren't yet cancelled -- McCain wants to cancel to be in Washington working on the economic stuff, but the democrats are claiming he's trying to divert attention from a failing campaign. So, I think the jury's still out on whether or not it'll happen.

My older son is home sick from school today, so maybe I'll get to my core work yet (of course by now I'm showered and wearing work clothes....)

Kathy -- I have so many fitness dvds in my netflix queue. I keep meaning to try some Kelley Coffey Meyer or whatever her name is. She seems popular with people who also like Cathe, so I figure I'll like her. But, I also try out a lot of pilates stuff that way, since I'm not a huge fan of that and don't really want to invest the money. They have some Amy Bento's -- oh, we talked about that, didn't we? I'd say just browse the fitness section and in no time you will fill your queue, if you're anything like me! :)

-Beth

LowMax...sorta done! BETH!!! Sorta wish I read that message before I started. I decided to try 8 inches today and it DEFINITELY raised my HR on the HRM. I told myself to try and take one combo/blast at a time. I did the warmup, step combo + blasts 1-4, and then only the step combos of 5-8. I would have loved to do some blasts near the last half but I don't think my legs could have down THOSE blasts by that point. But I think with a real determined effort, Low Max can get into my top 5 and hopefully prepare me better for the other Imaxes.

Chris --debates are still on, and IMO, they were never really going to be canceled. The commission on Presidential debates weren't really going to let that happen given we have such a short amount of time to hear the debates. Maybe McCain will not show up but it looks like the Senate and the House are going to have something today/tomorrow so by all means it will happen. I will be shocked if it doesn't but hey, I've been shocked before so who knows.

Oh, and I'm only going to go to one session of the Symposium (there are three). I don't work on AD myself (though I do work on ALS which is related), but my boss and my committee member (who is the guy being honored at this symposium) will be speaking so time to not look like a bum in front of a bunch of other scientists. Some of the talks will be interesting but I will be attending one talk where I basically disagree with most everything that professor says but its really good to hear what other people's opinions are.

Ok shower and then off to work! Have a great day everyone!

Well, so maybe I ought to be using the 8"! :) I didn't think my numbers were all that different -- maybe I have a different view of what "different" means given my advanced age. :)

A sort of friend and co-worker of mine came down with ALS. It was so strange -- he was a triathlete and always active, and then he showed up at work with a severe limp. I thought he'd been injured. And then gosh it wasn't much more than a year or so (my memory -- this was 15 years ago or so) later that he died. Really sad.

I should be cleaning the house since I'm stuck at home anyway, but I just am not excited about that!

-Beth

Circuits!

Chris, I was plotting out my rotation and thinking about you not wanting step in there.... you should look for boot camp premixes. There are a fair number of those to pick from, I think.

Just another comment on what I am ending up with -- the pyramids are going to arrive in my mailbox any day now, and so I know I will want to be doing them, so I've put them in there a bunch. I'll type it up at some point so you guys can see what I have planned. I may wait to see what Cathe posts for October, unless you don't want me to.

-Beth

Thanks Beth...I tried Amy Bento off Netflix. I liked her. A friend let me borrow the newer ones that Netflix didn't have...I have a few of those Kelly Cofer Mayer's on my queue. And I think a couple of yoga ones that someone reccomended. I think it was Shiva Rhea or something?

Well, I was just thinking that your butt is probably so much stronger than mine that it can hardly tell the difference between the 2 inches! :)

I actually really dislike working on ALS -- its very hard to watch. I probably should put a lot more effort in the project than I am but I was more focused on my molecular switches project as I am more likely to graduate with that one.

Damnit, I forgot to bring my lunch so now I'm going to have to buy it. I like the food I buy but I like to limit how much I eat out when I'm on campus.

Kathy, yes, Shiva does seem to be very popular. I tried one of hers once, and it wasn't my cup of tea. I'm starting to think I have very strange taste in yoga, so you guys should probably ignore everything I say about it. :) If I remember correctly, hers was fast-paced..... in case no one has noticed, I like sloooooowwwww yoga. On VF today (can you tell I'm being really productive today?) they are raving about someone named Tilak Pyle, for what it's worth.

Hottie, I also hate it when I don't have time to pack a lunch or don't have motivation to eat it. It means I go out with the guys and eat way more than I should or just the wrong things. Sigh.....

-Beth

well, it ended up being too busy of a day..We had fun doing our stuff. But, now I have to get dinner started. I don't have time to get to Imax 3. So, that will be on my schedule for tomorrow!!

After supper tea time! (I'm drinking a lovely Sugar Cookie Tea...it's so good!)

Beth: Ouch! on the knife in your foot! That must have hurt horrible!! I would imagine you'd still feel it.. I can probably piece together some Circuit Premixes for sure. And yes, I CAN do Step without a step. I've done it before (when I had my calf injury), and still got a good workout. Like any of the IMAXes, still felt the intervals! Sorry your son is sick! Though it's a nice excuse to get to stay home, no? I'm definitely interested in your Rotation when you get it set... Please do post it! And I *heart* the Pyramids!!

Hottie:
for doing Low Max! (most of it anyhow!!) on an 8 inch step!! ... Oh yeah, I guess they won't cancel the debate, but McCain might not show up? I think he'd better or he's going to look like a jerk!

Kathy: I hate when days get so busy and my workout isn't worked IN. Pretty much I'm sunk if it gets to be after 2pm. IMAX 3 WILL be there tomorrow for you !! It won't go away....

Much like ME...

What the heck is sugar cookie tea?! :)

Yes, the knife in my foot hurt, but not as much as a few minutes later when my husband pressed on it and completely severed the tendon. Sorry. Ok, while we're on this little walk down memory lane, let me tell you about the surgery to repair the tendon. I was nursing Dylan, so didn't want to be put under. They nodded at me. When I was wheeled into surgery, they told me to count backward and the next thing I know, I am waking up in a recovery room with a completely different hospital gown on and a cast on my foot. They not only did not abide by my wishes, but they hadn't mentioned the cast -- maybe it was naive on my part to think there wouldn't be a cast, but honestly, this was my first serious injury -- how was I to know? And what heck did they do to me with the hospital gown switch?! Then to add insult to injury, I could not put on my pants over the cast, so they told me I could have the hospital gown, so I had to hobble into the car with a cast on and everything open in the back!!

Ok, what I really was here for though was to post my proposed rotation. The last time I did this, Cathe had an awesome rotation out a day or two later and I never did my rotation! :) Ok, so it's not exactly as I specified in the generic breakdown and I'm open to suggestions for better ideas, but here's my strawman:

Week 1:
day 1: muscle max
day 2: imax
day 3: slim series shape it up
day 4: cardio coach
day 5: pyramid UB
day 6: PLB
day 7: strike zone
day 8: rest/yoga (I know, I couldn't resist an extra workout)

Week 2:
day 1: ME
day 2: IMAX 2
day 3: HSC
day 4: as yet unspecified pilates
day 5: SS tear it up
day 6: as yet unspecified kickbox
day 7: yoga/rest

Week 3:
day 1: pyramid total body
day 2: low max
day 3: something from terminator
day 4: squeeze
day 5: cardio coach
day 6: some Jari
day 7: rest/yoga

Week 4:
day 1: ME
day 2: IMAX 3
day 3: slim series mix it up
day 4: cardio coach
day 5: 4DS UB premix
day 6: 4DS LB premix
day 7: rest/yoga
