Hey Guys!
I've missed ya'll! Been working 7 days in a row blah! I took a couple days off of working out, I needed it! Yesterday I'm starting 4DS. LIS, shoulders abs calves and cardio. I think i'm just gonna stick with just a week of endurance b/4 I start my next months rotations. How is everyone?

Hi Randi, I was thinking about you yesterday and wondering where you've been. Hope all is well in spite of a lot of working!!

Good morning everyone to follow. Last night I posted a strawman rotation -- let me know what you think, and if you don't want to go back and look for yesterday's thread, I can post it again (but right now I'm on my husband's computer).

I had a glorious unplanned rest day today -- well, so far anyway. Did not sleep well last night, and woke up at 4:45 when my alarm was getting ready to go off, and I turned it off before it could!! Slept an extra hour. Nice. Later today I have to hang around at the school while my older son plays soccer, so I may run around the track. Depends -- it's been so darn hot here again -- in the high 80s. Yesterday my younger son's friend fainted at school he was so hot. So, not sure I'll want to run in that heat!

Hope everyone has a great day -- it's Friday! (which I know is not great for everyone, but it does make me happy).

-Beth

Well its still morning here as I type so ....

Good Morning Randi, Beth & All who follow!

So How's it going? (says in a sing song way)

DH has been off (his weekends are Wednesdays & Thursdays) but since he works nights (11p-7p Leaves at 9p comes home at 930ish am) it usually turns out that he sleeps all day on Wednesday and Thursdays is when we actually have him around to spend time with us.

We so need to move closer to his work but until ds is done with HS we shall deal with these hours

Today I'll be doing something probably weights , CCPP day is manana so you know what I'll be doing

Monday I plan to start the rotation. Knock on wood as my throat feels scratchy again I need to get some airborne stuff and start taking some zinc. I refuse to be down again due to illness.

Randi Good for you for taking it easy on your off days! Glad to have you posting

Beth I wasn't around a pc at all yesterday so I'll look back at yesterday''s thread. Enjoy that rest day!

Everyone!!

This is a quickie, because I *have* to get to the grocery store (fun! Fun!).

I did SS: Upper Body and PLB: Stability Ball this morning. OMG.. my legs are really feeling it this week. This should have been "cake" all by itself, but my entire leg was talking back to me through it all! Ow! (Beth, do you notice that too with this lower body focus?).

Beth: I looked quickly last night at your rotation. I'll have to look at it better today... One question, I'm not familiar with the Debbie Seibers series, could you tell me what those workouts are generically?

Okay.. Off I go!!!! (ACK! HATE grocery shopping, and it's raining out today!!..even worse!)...

Hi everyone..

It is rainy here too Chris. Yuck!!

Today I am going to tackle Body Max..

I will be back later for personal...

Beth

I just checked out that post of yours from yesterday.

My question is what rotation is this one based on? I only have Cathe's now so have no idea about the other's mentioned.

Maybe I should go back and read the entire thread but I have a man here calling for some loving so I need to go again

Once he is asleep I'll try to get back on here and read more throughly

Chris, yes, my butt more than my legs actually, but yes, it's been sore all month. :) The slim series in a nutshell: Shape it up is a total body circuit-style, Firm is lower body only and I think no weights besides ankle weights are used, and yet you still really feel it, Mix it Up is mostly bicep/shoulders, Tone it Up is mostly delts/triceps, and Tear it Up is a total body that most people think is the hardest one of the bunch -- it's my favorite. Just so you know, the series also comes with Cool it Off which is mostly stretch, but a much different feel than Cathe's stretching.

ETA: slim series in general all have a circuit style feel to them since she tries to keep an aerobic factor in there.

Vilma, that rotation I posted loosely follows the generic format of FF's leg blast rotation. I've read some about "freestyle training" where the theory is that because your leg muscles are so big and a major part of your overall muscles, you should work them every day. I'm not sure I should really be doing this two months in a row though, the more I think about it. But, I must say, I have really enjoyed it and my pants do seem a bit looser in places I need them to be.....

-Beth

Beth I remember Freestyle training was all the rage here a few years ago lol

I believe I did do a rotation or two following that concept back in 04 or 05

I still have the Freestyle type rotations so let me see:

Now mind you these rotations were posted around '03 - '05 from Cathe members who may or may not still be around & I can't remember who posted these so can't credit. From what I can recall they swore by these rotations reason why I printed them up and placed in my binder.
Freestyle Training to be done for 4 -6 weeks

  1. ab work, PLB, 40 minute run
  2. ab work, L&G leg press mania premix, 40 min run
  3. an work , rest
  4. repeat day 2
  5. repeat day 1
  6. ab work , PS Legs, 40 minute run
  7. ab work, rest
Lower Body Rotation

  1. PP premix of 2 sets for UB PLUS PLB floorwork PLUS BC core work
  2. Imax 2 and once in awhile when feeling energetic throw in the cardio from BC. Not every week
  3. L&G; some weeks do Extreme & other weeks just do as is
  4. PUB
  5. KPC
  6. SJP with light weights, go really lite with this one due to the other weight work done during the week
  7. rest

Actually The LB one looks like a good one but I want to do FF' Leg Blast rotation 1st.

Thanks, Vilma! What's old again is new again.... :) I think you will like FF's rotation -- I only did two weeks of it, but I always love the mixes she comes up with!

-Beth

Chris - I need to go by Target to pick up some meds and check out the public library - I feel a need to read.

By the sound of it seems like that rotation is hitting it good so thats what I'll try to focus on my next rotation since this month was pretty $hitty for me working out wise :(

Randi I really like that workout you did today the cardio portion is short but a goodie and 4DS weights is fryer. Nice!

Kathy We've had that rain due to that almost tropical storm that was hugging our coast lol

So how was Body Max?

Joanne how is everything going?

Okay Gals I need to get out now & run my errands before my youngest gets off the school bus.

Your very much welcomed Beth

I hope that sorta helped if anything something to think about when your planning rotations :)

Okay now I really need to get going and see if Target still has those kettlebells I saw yesterday - I've decided to get one :) really had to get DH on board for that since we are in savings mode now.

I'm soooo freakin tired tonight! Wow. What the heck did I do today? Not a TON, not more than usual. I'm just pooped.

I'm again sitting having my Sugar Cookie Tea. I think you asked yesterday what it was , Beth? Well, it's actually a winter seasonal tea made my Celestial Seasonings. I had a "stash" that got hidden in my closet ... I was excited to find it. It seriously tastes like you're drinking a sugar cookie! (smells like it too!!)

Randi: Nice to see you! sorry you had a long week at work ... are you off now for the weekend? Good 4DS workout today! Have you made any set plans when you'll start school?

Vilma: OMG.. hope you're not getting sick again! Holy cow! You go get some Zicam or Vitamin C or something! I take Zinc daily, I think it helps? Although my kiddos have not brought home any bugs yet (*knock on wood*!!!!). I know you'll enjoy the Lower Body Blast rotation, if you're feeling ok! I had to
at your Dh needing some "lovin'"!!!

Beth:
Thanks for explaining Slim Series. I copied your rotation and will most likely use it (with my own variations). It looks good and tough for the lower body! Unless Cathe really wows me with her October Rotation that is...
Glad to hear my back end wasn't the only one feeling sore this month. I thought for a minute I was doing something wrong for feeling sore so much and having a harder time getting through the Lower Body weight work as the month went on....Oh and, How is your son feeling today? did he go back to school?

Vilma: You're too funny with those Kettlebells! Must have been that extra lovin' that you gave DH!! ;) Did you end up getting a book at Target? I'm in the midst of reading , Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, by Lisa See. It's VERY good, about a young girl in Japan and the customs as she grew up. I love it! But it takes me forever to read a book. I read magazines, newspaper, books, I've always got something different in my hands...

Off I go to put my jammies on and snuggle with my

Hi everyone..

Checking back in with Body Max...Great tough workout. I ended up moving my step down to 6" after a while in the beginning. I was pooped!!

Still raining here..Chris has a baseball game to play tomorrow. Hope it doesn't get cancelled because of the rain!!

Chris -- ah yes, celestial seasonings..... hope you enjoyed a nice snuggle this evening. Don't know if you guys will see this, but I did finally do kick max this afternoon -- the premix that is cardio blast & leg drills, or whatever -- I really liked it!!! The blasts were done as though they were all filmed together -- it seemed like a brand new workout to me. And I love those leg drills.

Vilma, I'm thinking about kettlebells for a bday present. Let me know what you think!

Oh, and as for reads.... I also read verrrrryyy slowly -- because I fall asleep while reading usually, but.... right now I am reading Free Food For Millionaires and really enjoying it! It's about a korean college grad trying to make it in NYC. A big reason why I like it is because my best friend is korean and she says this book is her. I totally disagree with what I've read so far, so I'm so curious to see what happens since she thinks it's so much like her.

Did I tell you guys about the book called "My Half of the Sky"? It's by Jana McBurney-Lin. She's a friend of mine (her daughter is in my son's class and she teaches the kids creative writing). It's also about a college grad -- a woman in China. It's a little slow to start, but once you get into it, man you are really into it -- I feel like I was right there with the characters. Really liked it and I've given it to friends/family members who really liked it too. It just came out in paperback, but you could check your library.

-Beth

Got my 1st Kettlebell

I think I am in LURVE !!
loveshower.gif

I know this is a late post and most of you are done for the day but Oh man I have been trying out the different exercises that can be done with a KB and WOW!

I ended up getting the 15# Go Fit KB at Target as since I'm just starting I didn't want to hurt myself but using it with the dvd that came with it just showing 5 exercises I built up such a sweat and felt real strong with it.

I am so excited about starting with these things.

So I just placed my order for Lauren Brooks DVD and can't wait to start. Once I work with the dvd I ordered I'll see if I need to get the 20# KB instead... those turkish get ups are tough with a 15# though so I can understand why many say they have a smaller KB for that exercise.

Now I'll just be practicing on my form and Beth you see my answer. I can totally see myself getting really into Kettlebells once I learn the form I honestly don't know why I resisted this form of exercise before now.

Okie dokie Gals I'm off to bed and I need my rest for CCPP see y'all tomoorw :)
