Sept 08 Check In **Sat Sept 20**

Good morning!

I am feeling slightly better today but I think I'm going to wait out the morning to see how I'm feeling. I do want to go into my lab since I didn't go in yesterday and start some stuff up and check in on an ongoing experiment. There was a spike in temperature this week but it seems to have cooled off for the weekend, so free air conditioning! Wohoo!

Hope you have good workouts!

How is it that the west coast girls are the first ones checking in here this morning?! :) Sleepyheads!

I turned of my alarm last night and slept until after 7:00, and I have to leave for soccer around 9:00, and since I'm on snack duty, decided I'd better wait to work out. I may even take today as a rest day, but if not, I'm planning to do a total body -- no pounding these joints today!

So much for my upped protein helping me with the sweets. Last night I was starving and my husband asked me to hold dinner so he could do something. Well, it ended up being more than an hour, so in that hour I first started with cashews, but moved on to chocolate chips, and then I ate some of the dough for the after soccer game snacks. It was not a pretty picture! You really cannot let yourself get hungry.

The munchkins are awaking..... have a great day everyone.

Good Morning!! Hi Hottie! Beth!... and all to follow...

I ended up doing my workout first, before checking in today!
orjnfq.gif

I was deciding if I should or not, since I started my week on Sunday, and have already done 6 days, but I guess I could always use the cardio... So i DID!

I did Turbo Jam: Fat Blaster. It's 30 Minutes of intervals. It goes so quick. Sometimes I repeat it, but I just wanted a shorter workout today (since it's extra). I followed it with Power 90's : Ab Ripper 200. that's a good , quick (7 minutes) of abs, I always feel this one!!

So today is usually a crap day for me. Because I dread work all day, and I end up devoting the day to cooking, cleaning and getting ready for the sitters to take over our house. I'm so weird. I hate not having "control" of our house. I like things in their spots. I like things done a certain way. And all that goes out the window on working weekends! I need to snap out of it! LOL!

Hottie:
Hope you're feeling better today. I wouldn't push it on workouts if you're still recovering. I think of Vilma trying, and getting sicker and for longer. So take care of yourself! Make a big pot of chicken soup and chill. Our weather here has been perfect all week, and looks like we're going to have another one. Sunny, 70's, dry, small breeze. Nights are getting chilly though. I had to put on my big fuzzy robe and slippers last night! :p

Beth: Glad to hear you're not doing a Step workout today!!!

Oh yeah, pushing back supper would have killed me too! It's funny how for the most part, we'll eat "crap" food instead of going for something like a yogurt, or piece of cheese or fruit to fill our tummies in times of need! I guess we go for the quick sugar release. I've had a stellar week of eating, but now it's the weekend, and it's my biggest challenge!!!!

Off to cook, clean, prep!!!! (oh, and referee the fighting boys!!!!

Hi Girls!

The weather here has cooled considerably, I have my youngest DD's friend who slept over last night and my oldest DD wrecked my car on her way home from work late last night LOL

Needless to say I am sans car until I can get it into a body shop and I'll be needing to rent a car to get around in.

DD ended up taking out a mailbox and in a ditch resulting in the front bumper coming off and some damage to the rear passenger side.

Poor judgment and not having proper control and she only just got her license on the 28th I have to laugh because it could have been worse and thankfully she's okay although she now has to report in court in November to pay a fine. She's feeling really awful and she's a good girl very respectful and quiet so we just calmly spoke to her and thats all we can do. I'm just glad she didn't get hurt except have her nerves shaken up, she's still not feeling well either.

So I guess I'll be back to taxiing her around until we can find her a beater car that she can take.

My car has never been in any mishaps and now she's all broken and dirty. wahhhh

Hottie let your body get better - look at me I thought I could push myself only to have a relapse and now I'm feeling worse because of it. I didn't give my body enough time to recover so now I'm not going to play around and workout until I feel fully better.

Beth - I have an excuse for getting up late lol I swear! My DD didn't get home until past 1am and since she was driving my car I was stuck at home.

Chris - Good for you on getting your extra workout day in - I want to workout so badly but I still feel ick :( LOL I love that smiley of the fighting boys thats how it gets here too :)

Well that is all for me here ; while I was typing this post DH told me our insurance can't look at our car until Wednesday morning to access and get it fixed until they sign off on it. Sally (my car- yeah my car has a name lol) is still drivable but she looks so pitiful now plus I can't go over 45 mph without a bad screeching noise so at least I can still do my carpool for the kids and DD informed me she has no intentions on driving for a while now :(

Howdy,

Well, I was feeling somewhat better but I didn't want to push it so I tried LIS cardio. It was harder than usual by far but I think it might have been a really good thing for me by forcing my body to detox a little through the sweat. But I am definitely taking it easy for the rest of the day. But I have to say, my DH got me through the workout while preventing me too. During the workout, he would jump in front of the step or right next to me and start saying funny but "encouraging" things while making a silly dance like imitations of the step combos. I can't even describe what he did during the "madonna" move in the last combo of LIS. I almost had to stop because I started laughing so hard. But I'll get him back when he works out next.

Beth, I hope you have fun with soccer. I've found the only way I can cut down on my sweets if I have specific kinds of sweets that I can take at the end of meals so I can feel "satiation." So, at one point, I would have these Dove Chocolate Bliss candies or I would have a pudding or something. It was seriously the best way for me to curb it because it mattered nothing if I increased my protein.

Chris, I hope your day isn't too crappy. I did want to mention something from yesterday. You said something about having problems digesting B-vitamins. The first, I think Beth said, is right about eating it with food because B-vitamins are fat soluble and any of these vitamins go easy with food. But here's the info that not everybody knows (though you might, cuz you're a nurse). With vitamins/supplements, you sorta get what you pay for. There was a report that came out a couple months ago from several independent watch groups that tested different vitamins. Vitamins need to be digested and broken down within a certain time group. If its too early or too late, you don't absorb anything that's good for you. This is particularly a problem with older people and children who turn to supplements for health benefits. Anyway, it turned out that companies like Centrum and One-A-Day were right on the mark, all their lots worked the way it should. But a lot of the smaller companies did not work like that and were basically useless and in some people gave side effects like the ones you described. I recall one of them did really bad (Nature something) and received terrible marks for such a bad breakdown rate. So, perhaps you may want to change companies and see if that's the issue. Of course, its possible that your body just doesn't like it. I actually would try to take the b-vitamins the next time you try Fluff (which btw, I saw for the first time in the store!) because the fats should help the breakdown.

Vilma, I'm sorry about your car. I named our car too -- his name is Cid (actually, my husband calls him El Cid, but I just call him Cid). That's so nice that you were understanding about the accident. My first (and only where I was the driver) accident was a fender bender at slow speeds on the day my second niece was born and I didn't know quite how to handle everything and man...my sister and my mother just made everything worse. They never were in accidents before and they just blamed me and blew everything out of proportion and I was across the country when they would yell at me over the phone. It was my father -- who by all means shouldn't be alive given how many accidents he's been in -- who was like, "if everyone can walk away, its ok. that's what insurance is for." Since that accident though, both my sister and my mother have been in more accidents than me and have adopted a similar mentality. Oh, and I ordered some of the GNC vitapacks for me and my husband. I got them through drugstore.com and got the GNC membership too. It came out that each of the vita packs came to be about $28 -- is that a decent price? I'm not sure how much GNC inflates it ($50 is a lot for only a month).

Oh, its a quiet day online. Probably everyone else is enjoying the sun while I stay indoors. I hope you all have a great day!

Hi Everyone! Vilma, so sorry about Sally, but it's so true that the important thing is that your daughter wasn't hurt (and no one else, besides Sally, of course). If I were in your shoes, I would imagine that this shook up my daughter to the point that it's going to save her from some future accident that could have been much worse (my mind likes to do strange things like that). I'm glad you slept in after what was probably a somewhat trauma-filled evening!

Chris, good for you for having a stellar eating week -- I had a really good one up til yesterday. Today has not been so good since the leftovers are calling my name. :) You've probably already left for work by now, but I hope you can get through it better than I did with all my sweets! :)

Hottie, very interesting about the vitamins! My husband has for years insisted on Centrum for himself, and not even just any centrum, but a certain one. If he doesn't take them his legs ache. Strange, eh? This reminds me that I need to get him some more! I am an awful vitamin taker because of my darn enlarged thyroid/goiter. It's just hard to swallow them. It's the calcium I worry about more than anything.....

I got home from soccer and was not thrilled about any workout, but ended up doing the LIC total body premix which was something like 42 or 47 minutes. At least I did something.

Enjoy the rest of your day, gals....

-Beth

Leaving shortly for work...

thanks for the info on the vitamins, Hottie! That could be very true about the B's that I was taking. And Fluff, by the way, wouldn't be a good accompaniment, it has no fat!! (FULL of sugar though!!!). LOL!!!

Vilma!: OMG on your poor car and daughter!!! Glad she's ok though!

Beth: Thanks for the well wishes. I ate a bit too much oatmeal this afternoon with a bit too many choc. chips. But if that's the worst I do, my day will be pretty darn good. I still have the challenge of work!
