Sciatica

Hi,

I have been experiencing thigh pain, throbbing at times and pain that travels down into my calf and foot which sometimes feels numb. This started back in January with some back pain that went to my hip. That pain is not as severe anymore. I am thinking this is sciatica or muscle spasams, maybe both. I have another MRI next week. Have not done Cathe in months and just started walking again which relieved the thigh pain a bit. Anyone experience any of this and if so how long before it went away and when did you start to exercise again? Any help would be great!

This sounds like what my husband went through. He finally had an epidural and it's been almost a year with no pain or numbness. He will definitely get another one if the pain recurs. According to the anesthesiologist, you can have up to 3 a year.

So you have not had it diagnosed as Sciatica? I had it a few years ago it started on my left side in my lower back and traveled down the back of my thigh to my knee. The pain was awful and I couldn't even run. From what I read Sciatica can be different symptoms in everyone. What worked for me and it took about 8-10 weeks was Chiropractic care and Physical Therapy. I could exercise as long as it was not high impact. I hope you feel better soon...:)

you need to do lots of stretching, they're are exercises that therapy would usually have you do. If you are in therapy they would do ultasound, massage and ice to the pirformis area. Sciatica is from the nerve being pinched by the muscles. Just take it slow and easy it does get better. Like carole said my lasted for a few months and would still flare up occasionally . But after awhile,it was completely gone. goodluck
