SCALE QUESTION

I HAVE A QUESTION I HOPE SOMEONE CAN GIVE ME AN ANSWER TO KEEP ME SANE. I AM TRYING TO RECOVER FROM AN EATING DISORDER. THERE IS RESTRCITION AND PURGING INVOLVED. I HAVE BEEN SEEING A THERAPIST AND JUST STARTED WITH A DIETICIAN ( TAKING LITTLE STEPS) MY QUESTION IS MY CLOTHES ALL STILL FIT LIKE BEFORE BUT WHEN I WEIGHED MYSELF THIS EVENING (I HAVE NOT WEIGHED IN ABOUT 3 WEEKS) IT WAS UP ABOUT 4 POUNDS. THIS FREAKS ME OUT BECAUSE TODAY WAS A VERY LIGHT EATING DAY AND I HAD A PURGE HAPPEN ALSO. ANYBODY OUT THERE THAT CAN GIVE SOME ADVICE TO GET ME THROUGH THE NIGHT?
 
Scale weight flucuation can be due to multiple reasons. Water, sodium, glycogen, muscle mass, time of day, how much food is still processing in your intestines etc. Try not to worry about the scale. Concentrate on being healthy. Let your therapist and dietician or a physician tell you where you need to be weight wise. Wishing you the best in your recovery process.

Oh, I am sending you big (((hugs))) and I hope you made it through the night okay. I agree with Jean that the scale can ideed fluctuate a lot, even in the course of a day. I would advise to just steer clear of the scale completely and listen to your therapist & dietician. Wishing you the best. Let us know how you are doing.

the scale in my opinion is Very deceiving! It is never going to give you the same number throughout the day.
If your clothes fit well then dont even get on the scale.
If you really need to then I would suggest once a week first thing in the morning.

good for you, . .it all starts with your self motivation to help yourself. i hate to admit i've been there too, . and used to see a therapist who gave me the best advice ever during my initial recovery, . . STAY AWAY FROM THE SCALE!!! don't go on one, . .don't go near one, . .STAY AWAY!!! SCALES are EVIL!!! and it goes without saying since when you finally did weigh yourself despite the fact that your clothes all fit the same it freaked you out and caused a relapse. little steps, . . and remember you are on the road to recovery you CAN do this. i've been healthy for 4 years now and i will never go back to that DARK side. get yourself healthy, . . i don't want to sound like a cheerleader but you WILL do this. stay strong and good luck!!!
