satellite internet

we cannot get cable internet where we live. we've been using sprint air cards which are ok and the portablilty is nice too. but my contract is up next month and i was thinking about satellite. would it be slower/faster/no difference? does it lose "reception" easily in bad weather?:p (not sure what to call it!:D)

thank you!

I have satellite internet and I hate it. It's pretty slow and if it storms or rains hard I lose connectivity. I don't have any other choice where I live either. I don't know how fast the air cards are but the satellite internet usually runs around 700 kbps. Sometimes performance is a little better, but not too often.

thanks for the response!
not sure what my kbps are but it doesnt usually go so slow that i yell at it!;)
sounds like i'll be renewing the air card.
i'm paying 60/month for it...what do you pay for satellite?

I pay about 60/month as well. Unless you are having problems with the air card I would stick with it. With satellite you also have the Fair Access Policy where if you download more than 200 MB at a time at any point they limit your speed for the next 24 hours to dial-up speed. If I try to play more than 25 minutes worth of YouTube video at a time, for example, I'm hosed for the next 24 hours.
