Ryka shopping in Canada!

Cathlete
Hi, I hope a fellow Canadian can help me out here! I have been searching high and low to buy a new pair of Ryka shoes and I'm having no luck. I bought a pair about 4 years ago (I think at Foot Locker, can't remember), but they're telling me they don't carry them any more. I also tried National Sport, SportMart, Champions, and Sportchek. Is anyone 'in the know' where they are sold?

Also, I read (I think on this forum) that New Balance 804's were an excellent choice for aerobics. But when I checked these out, I believe they are running shoes. Does this make a difference? Is there a New Balance model out there more conducive to aerobics?

Thanks!!

I order my Rykas from Lethbridge, Alberta, and have been for a few years. The phone number is (403)327-2241. They have a website as well and it is http://www.runnersoul.com/leth.htm. I do not think the web site advertises the Rykas we like (it is primarily a running store) and so he special orders the models I want.

I just received a pair of Cirrus from Ron just the other day so I am sure he can help you out.

Thanks Kim - just out of curiosity, do you live in Alberta? I'm from the Toronto area, and was wondering if there may be any distributor closer? I was looking for Cirrus as well. I will check out the website you gave me. Thanks again.

RE: Saskatchewan

Hi Susan-Lynn

I live in northern Saskatchewan. I could never find Ryka shoes in any of the cities I frequent and finding an aerobic shoe period seems to be an incredibly difficult task let alone Rykas. Once I found Runner's Soul, they were so reliable and dependable that I neve looked anywhere else. It does not really matter how far away you are from him since shipping is shipping.

You could also order from roadrunnersports.com but it would be in US prices with the exchange and duty hassles.

BTW, Rykas usually fit about 1/2 size smaller than other shoes so keep that in mind when ordering. I normally wear a 10 but have to order an 11 in any Ryka because the half sizes only go to 9 1/2. I wear an extra pair of socks and it takes care of it.

RE: Rykas in Toronto

Hi Susan-Lyn:

The "Adelaide Club", in The First Canadian Place mall (lower level) in Toronto sell Rykas (Cirrus $119). I asked the salesman (my oh my, he had great biceps!) which was the best-seller in aerobics shoes in his store (the store is a "front" for the club's gym), and he told me Rykka's.

I was in the store a couple of weeks ago enquiring about the Cirrus -- unfortunately, they didn't have my size (boo! hoo!)

I'm gonna try again soon, although both of pairs I already have are pretty new. But, when I hear a must-have item is being discontinued, the words "Danger! Danger, Will Robinson!!!" go through my head.

RE: Rykas in Toronto

Thanks so much Patricia - I'm gonna head on down to Toronto to check out this place - and hopefully I'll get the salesman with the great biceps :D. I'd rather be able to try them on first - but if need be, I'll have to order them. My Ryka's are falling apart. :-(

Why would they continuing such a great shoe as the Cirrus??????

Thanks again!
