Running Shoe Recommendations?

I need to get a new pair of running shoes. Which ones do you like? Nike is the brand I currently have. I don't know what model. There are so many new styles out there, that I don't even know where to start to look.

Thanks in advice for your help,

Jean

i don't really go by brands. i will try on a million pairs of shoes until i find the one that has the fit i am looking for. right now new balance seems to be my fit with the extra cushioning and right support. dh needed speciality shoes that we just couldn't afford to order(he has higher arches, and i think he was also fitted for new balances). i found nikes and addias fitted horrid and to tight on me while for others they were the best.

well in other words just try some on to see what fits better and not worry about the brand names.

Hey, Jean. Everybody is different, so you may need to try on TONS of pairs before finding the right ones.

BUT, since you asked...I am currently in Mizunos. I pronate BIG TIME, so I need the support on the inside of my foot. Mizuno wave inspire or something like that. I just bought a new pair this past Friday and actually bought the EXACT same pair I am currently wearing. I konw they work, so I stuck with that!

Good luck!

The best thing to do is find a specialty store where someone can watch you run and then tell you the type of shoes you need. I never did that but my PT watched me and said the best show for me was a stability shoe. So far he has been right on the nose!! What I do (as I am cheap) is when the ones I am using get worn out and I have to get new ones (currently running in Reeboks) I do an online search for the style of the Reebok, and find the cheapest site for them. I got my last pair from Dick's Sporting Goods online and they were $50 and free shipping!...:)...Carole

Jean,

If you have a place that will fit your feet, like a Runtek or Fitting Stool, etc., I would recommend that first. I'm amazed what a difference shoes can make in preventing injury in particular. (Happened to me recently) Currently, I use a New Balance with the highest motion control and a high arch insert. I have wide feet, high arches and pronate my feet when running so these fit me best. I have never felt better running, and neither have my knees and back!

JMHO! Hope that helps!

Do you have a "Fleet Feet" near you? They are an excellent store for fitting you with just the right shoe. They put you on a treadmill and videotape you as you walk and run so that they can tell whether you pronate or whatever. Then, they measure your foot, look at your bare foot and from the video and their assessment, fit you with a shoe that works for you!

I am also wearing Mizunos, but a different style than Gayle because I do not pronate at all. I love the Mizunos. It's the first pair I've ever worn, but they are wonderful for running.

I don't know if you have a Runner's Roost out where you are, but I went there to get "fitted" for running shoes. They watch you run and so forth to give you a recommendations. I have major flat feet, so they recommended some Asics. I absolutely LOVE them! I haven't bought any other brand since, and I've never had any problem with them.

Good luck.
