Running and Walking on Ice

Hi All!

Has anyone used those rubber "stabilizers" that go over runnings shoes? The kind that provide traction in the ice and snow? I'm looking into them for the winter but am worried they may be something of a gimmick. Opinions appreciated!

I received these as a gift (Yak Trax), but I haven't used them because I'm also worried that they might not work well enough. I love winter running, but I'm really cautious about running on ice - especially because I usually run in the dark.
