Running advice wanted!

Hello all,

I am starting to utilize my treadmill more now that I've familiarized myself with it!! What I would like to know is where is a good place to read up on how to extend my running time, work in intervals and all the cool stuff that you can do with your running routine?

I'm sure there are websites to be visited, I just don't want to waste my time on a bad one!

TIA,

Tricia

Hi Tricia

A couple of ideas come to mind.

1. Check out Runnersworld.com the web site associated with the magazine of the same name. Go to the Smart Coach link to look at some plans as rough guides.

2. look at the cool runnings web stie also

3. come visit the Cheetahs check in on the check in forum here on Cathe's site. Many of us are runners of all types of ability and distance preference. It is a very friendly and knowledgeable group.

4. Check out the iTrain web site for great treadmill work outs that have settings for walkers, joggers, runners and some even fast runners. Of course you can tailor it to your needs easily enough.

To add;

a. Website : www.runnersworld.com
LOTS of great information, some funny stuff, some a bit of so-so

b. Workouts
- Cardio Coach - www.cardiocoach.com for great guided cardio workouts
- Walking Strong from Tracey - It si a walking and not running workout, but you get to do cool things like walking lunges and side squats on the treadmill and learn that walking at incline can be as tough as running. (www.fitbytracey.com - collage has a clip)

I strongly cast my vote for iTread workouts from www.itrain.com as well.

Not a website but the book "Galloway's Book of Running" by Jeff Galloway has been a great resource for me. You might be able to find it at the library.

Also, I highly recommend Cardio Coach workouts. Coach Sean is dreamy ;-) and the workouts are awesome.
