How do you avoid the cramping in your gut when you are running. It starts up sometimes after about 12 minutes and i end up slowing to a fast walk till it goes away.I want to keep increasing , but this is making it really hard...
It is getting easier to run longer. The legs are starting to get used to it.

Hi, Anne. When I get a side sticker, I change my breathing for a few minutes. I take deep breathes and let them out slower by puffing my cheeks while blowing it out. I don't know exactly what causes the stitches/stickers/cramps, but I've read others post that it may be that your not getting enough air into your lungs. Also what helps (and I read this a few places and it works for me) is, when you get the stitch in your side, push on it a bit with your fingers and lean into that side of your body and hold it (while still running) for a few seconds.

I hope this helps some.

Do you get the cramps even if you don't eat? You might want to wait about 30 mins more (90min total) after a sandwich....:)

I am really not sure. This just started happening.
I was all into it yesterday. I felt like i could have ran the 40 min. The legs are getting used to it and i had to cut down to a 4mph and elevation.I really want to get used to the running.
Maybe one day i can do one of these races.......
Depressing.
