Guys, yesterday I accidentally ripped off the top of my big toenail, past the quick. As you might imagine, it is very tender and painful to walk on. I have a 10K race coming up this Sunday and although I'm hoping that the pain will have subsided by then, I need to know if anyone has any suggestions of what to do if it hasn't.

Thanks!

Ouch!! Done that before, not on my big toe, but on my other tootsies, that hurts! It should quit hurting in a day or 2. For the 1st day, cover it up w/ some Neosporin and a band aid, and wear open toed shoes so its not getting squished. After that, lose the band aid (unless you're somewhere really dirty/germy) and keep with the open toed shoes, unless you have to wear closed shoes. If you keep the band aid off and keep it dry, it will dry out and the skin will get a little tough/dry/callous-y, and it won't hurt to touch things. If you keep it moist (I HATE that word) it will hurt longer. It should only hurt for a day or so. It will take some time for the nail to grow back, but once the skin dries out, it won't hurt.

Hope its better quick!

You'll be fine. That sort of wound is sore to the touch for a day or so, then you forget all about it. Once those race day nerves kick in and all the bods line up ready for the gun, do you think you'll be giving your toe nails a spare thought?!?!?!?

Don't sweat it, it's a little thing. Have a great race!
