Good morning runners!

Shelley...that is awful your hip was aching last night..:(...I am with Sarah on the icing it. Like 15-20 min 3 times a day..

Sarah...hoping your legs are feeling not too bad today after your killer run!

Amy...so you managed the ice bath?..You are my hero...:)

I am running 16 miles on trails today...yep, in the rain so it'll be like playing in the mud I bet...

Have a great Sunday...:)

Hey Carole...your such a early bird on weekends!:)

Im going outside for my run today. Its a little windy but not as bad as yesterday.Im not sure how far we will go.I would like to push myself today but I run with someone and she may be on a time frame.

Sarah...congrats on the run yesterday! You must have amazing endurance! Good for you!!!!!

Hope everyone as a good day!
Lori:)

Morning all!

I'm happy to report that my hip is not sore this morning. I had a warm (okay, hot) bath last night and sat in it for a while and it seemed to help a lot:) It's side hip, not hip flexor. Thanks for your suggestions, everyone! Mattea - once you put the peanut oil on, how do you apply the heat?

No running for me today. I did Powerstrike I this morning. L&G or GS Legs later:)

Hi runners!

I am a Cathe fan, but I have also added running to get some cardio. I used to run occasionally, but now I am aiming for about 3-4 times a week. Sundays I try to go for longish runs... like 5-6 miles. However, on these days one of my knees starts to hurt a little after about 3-4 miles. It is on the inside of the knee cap, near the top. I bought new Brooks sneakers that are meant for stability/motion control, thinking that over-pronation may be the problem. They helped a lot, but not 100%. Does anyone else have knee problems? Does anyone have any suggestions? Is running bad for the knees?

good morning runners!
Love reading what you all are accomplishing!!

Amy: congrats on your 10k!!

Shelly: glad your hip is better!

Sarah: you go girl!

yesteray's workout: did TONE it up
today's workout: rest
Tomorrows workout: 4mile run!

take care:)

Good Morning Ladies!!

Feel good this a.m., still jacked up from my accomplishment! A little tight but Bryan Kest will loosen me up! I'm going to do one of his Yoga workouts, then take the kids to the Zoo for "Spring Blooms"

Carole, sounds like you have an awesome run planned for today. Take some vodka for the bears!

Lori ann, have fun during your run! I admire your hard work and dedication!

Shelley, I am thrilled that your hip feels better! That is a very good sign! I am releived but still want to get it 100% so you can do what you love!

Gemstone, you may need to give the knee some rest and do some non impact cardio until it recovers, then use your new Brooks for running. You may be jolting an old injury that needs to rest to heal. I'd ice it 3 times a day for 15 minutes or so.

Gloria, I am kind of resting with ya...Yoga to get a well deserved stretch in. Enjoy your day of recovery and rest up for your 4 miler!

GREAT JOB guys!!

Hi Girlies:)

Tis I again:) Just got home from my run long enough to clean up and eat something.Im thinking we did over 10 miles. When I get time later, I will see how far we ran.I am thinking it was probably 18-20 kms. When we got to the top of the hill, when we would normally been going home, I said..."do you wanna go again" and she went for it! So we had a good run.
It was a nice morning, a bit windy but a great day for a longer run.
Now...must go clean the house:-( No wonder I ran so long...I didn't want to come home and clean! LOL
Lori:)

Lori-Don't you love that feeling, where you can just keep going? I love it when I surprise myself like that!

Shelley-After you put the peanut oil on you can use a damp washcloth and a heating pad, a microwave "bean" pack will produce moist heat on its own, or even get right into that hot bath-then reapply lightly when you get out of the bath. Baths are probably my favorite method, but I don't always have the time. I am so glad that your hip is feeling better this morning:7 As Sarah said, definitely a good sign, with the right treatment we're sure we can keep you on the road:D Pretty soon we'll have you wearing crystals and drinking caterpillar toes;-)

Sarah-I hear you about Bryan Kest! He always makes my lower body loosen and the next day my upper body is tight, lol:p

Carole-16 miles, in the rain and mud? No need for vodka to fend off the wild animals- you are a beast}(

No long run for me today, DH's calf is still tender (he tried the bike this morning, but even that was a little much). I did Bmax this morning instead and we're going to take a long Sunday walk to soak up as much sunshine as possible. I did have to bump up my step to 8 inches this morning though, I haven't had to (been able to?) do that in a long time!!
Happy running to all!
Mattea

Gemstone...that kind of pain is usually caused by running in old shoes. But if you just got new ones it should subside soon. I have been blessed with not having knee problems, but it can be a common running injury. You might cut your runs back to 3 days a week til the pain leaves, and Ice the knee as Sarah suggested. If you have access to a leg extension machine that can really help strengthen the muscles surrounding the knee which can prevent injuries.

Sarah..you should still be jacked up...you did so well yesterday...:)...darn, I could NOT find the Vodka this morning, but luckily no bears...I don't think they like rain..

Yes Lori...I am up early every morning..5 AM...:)..Sounds like you had an awesme run...:)

Hey Mattea...sorry about your DH...:(..I hope his calf is better soon. Bumping up your step to 8 inches for Bmax?...and you call me a beast...:)

Well my 16 miles went well. Actualy the rain was fairly light for the first 12 miles, got a bit heavier after that. And lots of puddles to jump in....which I found fun....not real muddy, just wet...

All your runs posted gave me great inspiration to finish today...:)

great job carole on the 16miles!!!I ran 11.5 today.Feeling a little tired but not too bad especially with 7 good hills thrown in there. My legs definately got a good workout today, If I keep up with all these hills my two friends keep throwing at me I should be able to bounce a quarter off my butt by the end of spring,;-) .

Gemstone definately ice the area, and back off on mileage if necessary. I developed IT band syndrome last summer from over doing it . Good luck!!!

Thanks Laura...sounds like you did well too..:)...not sure if I could ever bounce a quarter off my butt....bet Sarah could...:)

Hello ladies! No running today for me... DH and I went to the Giants game instead!! No workout at all, unless you count the workout my digestive track is getting... It's amazing how I could eat all kinds of junk years ago when I was heavy and out of shape, and now, I wish I could get all this food OUT of me!!! Ick!!! I feel like a stick in the mud and like DH can't have any fun with me around any more... x(

On a lighter note, I plan to do a short 3 miles tomorrow after boot camp. We'll see how it goes!!! My legs are appreciating today's break... and I'm trying to rest up so I can start P90X at the end of this week!!!!}( :7 My plan is to keep running throughout the 90 days.
