Runner's check-in Mon 4-24

YAHOO! Elaine! You should come run the wine country half! I am already signed up (my DH rolled his eyes when i told him - LOL)! I happen to love Sonoma county wines so the wine and music festival afterwards in the Sonoma town square is sure to be a hit with me! Since this is the first half I am attempting after coming off of my injury, I plan on running easy. So far I am taking my training easy with a bit of cross training, and making sure to always get in that stretching (god bless sarah!). I am following Hal Higdon's intermediate half schedule (it starts today, actually), so I hope I can run pain free and have some fun! Let me know if you decide to go... :)

Carole! I'm with Elaine on the Big Sur chatter! Oh gosh, I must be crazy!!! But you know, there are plenty of hills around here for me to train on AND there is one in particular that is atleast a mile long and steep }( that I could use for training. We'll see how my half goes first.....

Christine! You probably could do a half by then. Go to halhigdon.com and look over his novice or intermediate half marathon training schedule. I bet you'll decide you can do this! LOL - listen to me! Now all I have to do is post a picture of the Somoma vineyards and I'd be just like Carole! :p

Elaine,
I have all the Cardio Coaches (#1-6 and the new #6 with Sean). The two I use the most are #5 (I really like the music and extra long first challenge) and #1 (because it's a perfect 30 minute run after weights).

I really like the challenges in #2 though, they're great and the time is just under 32 minutes so I'm starting to alternate it with #1 more. Once you try them, you're hooked! ;)

Oh, and I just got some Runnervals (Lori talked me into them...yeah, that's it...lol!) I got the hill climbing and the 10k builder and YOWSA they're way above my league as is...lol! I'll definitely have to down grade the speed increments and inclines to make them do-able.

Hi Ladies!!!

First...GREAT JOB Wendy on the run! You should be very prod of yourself!

How awesome that ya'll are looking to run Big Sur together. I hear it is the prettiest in the country! The picture Carole posted has me drooling!

As Elaine already knows...I signed up for the Columbus marathon that is in October. I feel a bit crazy for signing up for a 2nd marathon before running my 1st! Had too...the price goes up before I will be able to run my 1st! I know it was the right choice...I know *me* and training mode makes me ever so happy!

No run today! 60 minutes Elliptical and MM! I used 1/2 the weight load on lower body because I am tapering for my marathon...which is 12 DAYS AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

12 more days! 12 more days! 12 more days! 12 more days! 12 more days! 12 more days! 12 more days! 12 more days! 12 more days! 12 more days! 12 more days! 12 more days! 12 more days! 12 more days!

...but I'm not obsessing about it or anything! :p

Sarah, I went to the Road Runner Sports store opening in my town on Saturday. There were tons of people, and one guy had on a flying pigs tee shirt! I almost tackled him!! LOL

12 more days 12 more days 12 more days 12 more days 12 more days 12 more days 12 more days 12 more days 12 more days 12 more days 12 more days 12 more days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sarah - oh how exciting! We'll start the count down with you!

Inca - I was actually in Sonoma on Saturday. DD17 wanted to look at schools and Sonoma State was on the list. Afterwards we went to a wonderful little Trattoria just off the square and had a wonderful lunch on their patio. I, too, prefer Sonoma wines. Let me run a few more weeks to decide. I know DH will have no issues with it because even he can't run (his knee is bothering him right now), he can hang out and drink wine while I run. :+

And Wendy YEAH! WAY TO GO! That's a great run!

carole I am following a rotation but had to flip flop a couple of the long runs . thanks for the advice, having your okay in the matter makes me feel better about going ahead and doing it!! I get worried that I might burn out.
Sarah, I am excited for you on your marathon. You'll do great!!!
I only walked today, taking it a little easy . I have a 5k race saturday and hope to beat my last time or at least finish at the same time anyway.
Have a nice day ladies!!

Tomasina...I'll look for a Sonoma pic for you...:)

Christine...sounds like you had a nice run today. It was overcast here too....where did our nice sun go??

SARAH?....you signed up for a 2nd marathon!!!! OMG....it is already in your blood girl!!! So, one year I will have to do the Flying Pig with you and one year you will have to do Big Sur with us!!! I am so excited for your 12 days to go...:)

Laura...just take it easy after the 14 miles and I bet you will do fine in the half. I hope you do great in the 5K Sat..:)

I did a Pilates ball workout this afternoon. Felt nice to stretch out my muscles...:) really though I wanted to post the pic of Sonoma for Tomasina and Elaine and maybe Christine?...:)

SHHHH....just lurking. I am hoping Carole doesn't see me here...she's a bad influence! LOL

BIG SUR......I'm thinkin' aobut it!

Gayle

LOL! Great picture! I knew you'd come through! HEY! why don't we run the Napa Valley Marathon instead of that beastly, hilly Big Sur marathon? .....Carole, can we get a picture of the Silverado Trail in here? :p :+

Actually, I'd love to do the Flying Pig someday too! ok, down girl....I'm getting all marathonconfused!! heehee...

thomasina

Gayle! Shhhh...Let's get "them" to change up to the Napa Valley Marthon! :7

And quit lurking! You BELONG here!

Thomasina

ETA:
OR.....we can all meet in Ohio and do the Flying Pig next year!! ...ok, that's enough! I have to remove myself from the boards for now find my senses!!! :+

Thomasina, now you're talking. I'd be down for sure for Napa! That Flying Pig might be calling my name otherwise!! Ohhhhh, so many marathons only two knees!!

LOL! Yep, so many marathons and I'm not even really "out of the woods yet" on my injury! My DH is absolutely going to flip when he even hears one peep about a "marathon". I'm chuckling now at his response when I told him (convinced him) about the half! He snarkily said, "right, sounds like 2 to 3 days of easy running to me".... LOL.. but I really am doing it right this time and my hip is doing way better and I'm losing the weight I gained this last 8 months! Do I sound convincing so far? I REALLY would like run the Pig! I just couldn't ever find anyone around here interested in going...... hmmmmm....choices...I'm sure Sarah will have me all fired up for the pig after she tears up the pavement in 12 DAYS!! ......

"First...GREAT JOB Wendy on the run! You should be very prod of yourself!"

Thanks Sarah!:) I am proud! *pats self on back* :p

Best of luck on your marathon girl! I can't even tell you how in awe I am of you! Just when I think you are as good as it gets...YOU GET BETTER! }( :+ }( :) ;)

Christine,

Thank you!:) I'm jealous...wish I could be on the other side of the country with all the Cali girls!:+

ROTFLMAO!!

Carole!! Too funny! I LOVE your way with photos! (I'm still chuckling!) Yep, so it's either Napa or the Flying pig. I don't think I could qualify for Boston though!! I'll leave that to Gayle! I'll bet Sarah is gonna BQ! Anyway, another thing to consider about Napa for the more casual runners is that there is a 5:30 time limit I think....whereas Big Sur (beast!) is 6:00 and the pig gives you until eternity or something.... I dunno, I guess this is all pointless now since it is going to soon be time on the east coast to start a new running thread!

BTW, Wendy! I think you should consider "gadget shopping" on the west coast when and if we decide on a marathon! :+

Thomasina

Tomasina...another thing about Napa is you have to be at the start 2 hours before it actually starts....I never found that fun but all of you would keep me awake on a dark morning...:)...
