Hello everyone,

I am a little sore from bootcamp class lastnight but plan on running 5-6miles this evening after work. Hope everyone has a nice day!!:) :)

Hi Runners :)

I am running 6 miles today.

How often do all of you change you milage and route? I've been two weeks at 22-23 miles and don't want to increase too fast. But, I do want to improve.

Carole- the pictures you have posted are beautiful! It's looking like many of you will be meeting at race somewhere.

Hi, ladies! GOOD MORNING!

Judy-What I like to do it this (when I'm not training for something, anyway, and I'm still just a beginner): I like to stay at the same mileage for about a week and a half. After that, I keep that same mileage and route for maybe 2 more runs, but these 2 runs are done on different routes. Then, I will increase my mileage just a bit (Carole had suggested 10% increases at a time) and continue in that way. SLOW AND STEADY! Again, that's my preference, and it works for me!

CAROLE & CHRISTINE! You guys are SOOOOOOOOO COOOOOOOOLLLLLL. And so generous. I will accept the challenge, but I always have a hard time accepting gifts and stuff. Thank you (we'll see if I agree to it afterward, but you better BET I'm gonna make you PAY. lol).!!! THANK YOU!

Gayle

ETA: I forgot to post my workout info, distracted by all the motivation goin' on here! RS and Core Max #2...my favorite combo. I wanted cardio but didn't want to run today again, so I went with my go-to workout.

Good morning fit runners

Laura...have a nice run this evening

Thanks Judy...these girls just forced me to post all those pics!! It would be fun to meet up and run a marathon with them..:)..Gayle is right about increasing mileage, 10-15% a week is best to prevent injury, so for you don't increase more than 2-3.3 miles a week. If this makes sense...

Gayle...I think us paying will give you good incentive!! I can't wait to see how you do.

I'll be doing GS Back & Biceps and a 5 mile run. I do have to go to work today though so I can't play here with pics!!!

For all who follow have a great day...:)

UM......I think I decided on........Marine Corps this October!

Maybe. LOL I'm gonna check it out for another week or so, but I think I'm gonna do it. I like to involve my boys in this stuff, and I've been promising them a trip to DC (they're bugging me about htis summer). AND....the marathon is on October 29, right at my boys' BDays (Oct 17th & 29th), so this may be the perfect gift to them as well. AND...........they've got a Healthy Kids Fun Run which my kids LOVE TO DO!!!!!

ANYBODY WANT TO JOIN ME????????????

Gayle

Gayle- I'm NOT game for a marathon. I have to take baby steps with running.

Thanks for the recomendations on how to increas mileage safely.

On a sad note here, I saw a serious motor vehicle accident while running this morning. It resulted in injuries and a car flipping on it's side just 20 feet ahead of me. I ran on the sidewalk and was alone today. But my girlfriends run on the road. Had they been with me; they could have been injured seriously. It shook me up.

Good morning!

Today I'll be doing GS BSB with pullups (assisted, of course) thrown in between each of Cathe's back exercises. Then I'll do about an hour on the elliptical.

It's raining here AGAINx( and is supposed to continue through Friday!

Hello everyone! I cut down my mileage this week, 4 miles on Monday and Tuesday and cross training today. Tomorrow is 2 miles, Friday off and Saturday the 1/2 marathon. The kiddos got very sick this weekend and are still recovering :( . I've been feeling a little under the weather too, so I hope I'm back to normal by Sat.! Having a 2 1/2 and 1 year old crying and hanging on you all day long really wears you out, so that's probably a lot of it.

Have a great week everyone if I don't have time to check back in. Thanks for the info. about marathon training!

Gayle-

I read about the Marine Corps marathon in the AF Times, it sounds really neat. The article said that non-military runners can register online beginning May 17th for $88. "Last year, entrant spots were full in just 62 hours, 19 minutes. Don't procrastinate on this one-it's worth the effort." The website is www.marinemarathon.com

I'd love to try that one someday. I don't think I'll be ready by Oct., or if I want to train in the summer heat. ;) The marathon I was thinking of is in Feb. Good luck!

HTH!

Good morning,

I haven't checked in in a few days because I haven't gone for a run since Saturday. I planned to run last night after my trig exam (I'm taking night classes so I can hopefully go to grad school eventually), and as the afternoon and, later, the test wore on, I got a really bad headache. So I just went home and got in bed. Ugh.

I did wake up early this morning to go to the gym. I did four miles on the treadmill. It's almost light enough early enough here that I will be able to run outside in the morning. Running that early (~6 a.m.) makes me a little uneasy sometimes, but it's so pleasant at the same time. When I see other runners around, that makes me feel better too.

Only about 10 days till the half-marathon! As I've finished each longer run, I've thought that there was no way I could ever do a full marathon, but for some reason the thought of trying is still in my head. One of my good friends has signed up for the Chicago marathon; maybe that's part of it. I just don't know if I can wrap my brain around that distance. How do you all do it? ;)

Take care,

Ellen

Good morning all!

I did P90X Shoulders and Arms this morning, followed by Ab Ripper X. I'm feeling good, and ready for another 3 mile run this afternoon. (I feel funny posting 3 miles when everyone is talking 6 and more! But, hey ya gotta start somewhere!).

Gayle - I'm already paying by joining here. I had had vague ideas about running a 1/2 marathon "one of these days". Now that "one of these days" is July, and the threat of a full marathon is looming in the not-to-distant future. The least I can do is send you a cardio coach if you make your goal. It'll work ya hard and pay you back for the pain and misery you're inflicting on me... ;)

Waves hello to everyone!

G’ day mates!

Sorry Elaine, but it is clear as a bell with sunny skies up here in Northern California! But it does look on doppler that your rain clouds will be going away!

Laura – enjoy your run. I can’t wait to run outside in the evenings again!

Gayle – I think it is VERY cool that you are considering the Marine Corps marathon and including your handsome boys! You’re a great mom!

Carole – Which marathon is on the picture menu for today? Oh, wait…you have to work instead of play today…Shucky darns…I was hoping to get a good one of the Marine Corps on here for our All-Star, Gayle!

Judy – gosh, so sorry to hear about that tragic accident while you were running. I’ve seen similar accidents while driving, but never running, but still, I hate that shook up feeling, poor people. I’ve only been almost run over running though! Do be careful out there!

Marsha – good luck with your half marathon on Saturday. And I hope your kiddos are feeling better soon. And in case you needed to know, when they turn teenagers they don’t stop crying and hanging on you when they are sick!

Ellen – Just keep on running and gradually working up the miles and you will be able to run 26. 2 miles.

Christine! – Don’t even feel funny about 3 miles. 3 miles is 3 miles! You just keep up the good work! Since I was sidelined with an injury, I have to start with 3 and 4 miles again to build up to where I was. I’m so excited that it sounds like you are considering the wine country ½! Oops, am I enabling again?? Hee hee… :p

Kristi? Mattea? ….oh, and I even beat Sarah here? Woah!

Oh Sarah, sorry Carole and I couldn’t make it to crash your BBQ, er… cook out, but Carole was on a last minute emergency loop around her infamous “Bear Lake”, and I forgot to set my watch from PST to EST…so, we would have been too late to throw our tofu on the cooker anyway… Hope you had fun!

So, Ladies - I looked at the calendar, and figured out a training schedule, and it looks as if I COULD run the 1/2 marathon in Sonoma. I am supposed to be in North Carolina that week, but I think I can postpone a week, most likely. I'm thinking that this will really help me deal with all the crap going on at work. Is anyone going to run this? I'll be running too slow for most of you, but I would love to meet up with y'all!

Hi everyone,
Sounds like everyone's getting in some great workouts. Good luck to the half marathon runners this weekend! :)

Judy, wow....that sounded so scary! I hope your nerves have settled down a bit....

Gayle, I wish I could join ya for the Marine Corps. Marathon but I'm planning on doing the Philadelphia Marathon again in November. Maybe next year? ;-)

I got up late AGAIN, so I'll run my 5 mile tempo run when I get home this evening. T-minus 4 days until I run the New Jersey marathon on Sunday. I'm starting to get nervous, lol! I'm also planning on joining the 4:15 pace group again. Has anyone else run with a race pacer? I found it stressful the last time because the last pacer wasn't a "steady pace" runner, she would sprint out of the water stops and we actually lost her for 4 miles when she took a bathroom break. ;(

Kathy

Thomasina - I guess we were posting at the same time. I'm seriously, seriously considering it. It would literally mean I just have to push back my training for a week (which gives me another week to run 3 and 4 miles to get the ole body used the P90X and a killer running schedule!).

CHRISTINE !! YAY! YES! I am already registered for the Wine Country half in Sonoma on July 16th! And I will be running nice and easy since I am recovering from an injury. My DH is a little skeptical of me running this since what happened last summer to my hip while training for Chicago, but I promised I would keep everything nice and slow and easy. He already thinks I’m scheming on a marathon…(what? Who me?)…. Anyway, I think we have ELAINE talked into this one too! Yay! I know Carole can’t make it because that is the weekend of her 40, 000,000K. I hope we can round up some others too! Let me know what you decide, this is exciting! And Hal Higdon has some reasonable running schedules for the half marathon. Also, I’m sure there are others on here to offer a suggestion too.

Christine – Yep, we are posting at the same time! :)

Kathy – Good Luck to you on the New Jersey Marathon this weekend! I’ll be interested to hear others comment on experience with pace groups. I’ve always been tempted to join one but I was afraid of problems like the ones you described happening to you.

Thomasina

Lots to say, but don't think I can remember it all! LOL

Kathy-I am an hour out of Philly myself. HMMMMM...I wonder if I can do Marine Corp in October and Philly in November? OH MAN! I am NOT serious! LOL I'm curious about the pacer as well. I was thinking about this the other day and they are actually offering them for my half this weekend. HMMMMM>...that's an awesome way to make Carole and Christine pay up on their deal! LOL

Ellen-Rest up and recoop for your half. Where is it (forgot, sorry).

OK...funny story quick. Here, I decided I'm doing Marine Corp October 29th. I go to pick up DS at pre-k and a friend of mine tells me that a group of ladies I know have decided to do San Fransisco the weekend BEFORE Marine Corps, AND they want me to go with them! LOL. They are walking, but they want to make the trip with me since they are doing it as a fundraiser for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society! THEN...I call the staff person at LL&S that I know and she makes me an offer for San Fran to be this group's MENTOR! ME???????? A MENTOR for a marathon? I couldn't believe it. But, now I have to decide which one.

SHEESH....one day I can't decide on a marathon and the next I've got 2 in consecutive weekends! LOL. You ladies..........this is ADDICTING!

Gayle

Christine – No to confuse things, but since I am a “certified enabler”, I thought I would point out that the San Jose Inaugural Rock n’ Roll half marathon will take place in your neck of the woods on October 8, 2006. :7 :7 :7
