Runners Check-in 4/19

I forgot to check-in yesterday! Running the kids around, the weather was so nice...can't believe I forgot!

Well, yesterday I ran 7 miles with my running group, they were great miles, gorgeous evening!

Today I will do 60 minutes elliptical and probably ME.

So, who is racing this weekend???

Hi Sarah and all who follow :)

Today is a 6 mile run with my friends and PUB shoulders.

After seeing the marathon in Boston on Monday, I am just so impressed with how dedicated those runners were. It was a amazing event to see. Our friend ran it for the third year and had a best time.

I forgot to check in as well sarah. Today I will either do my new treadmill(cheetah fast) workout which I havent got a chance to do yet or I will run outside .I think it is suppose to rain the rest of the week so I havent decided which I will do yet . I have a 5k next weekend in bowling green, ohio. no races for me this weekend. have a nice day everyone!!

Hello, ladies!

Today I am doing a low impact workout, probably kickboxing and legs, since I ran yesterday. I only intended to do a 3m interval yesterday but because I felt so good I ran an extra three in the afternoon (not intervals, but just a run).

My mini is on the 6th, so close! I am getting really excited!!!! Nothing this weekend, though.

Missy

Hi Girls!

How is everyone? Well, I think I finally came up with a rotation last night, its a little bit of everything but it basically works Upper and Lower Body 2 x a week, plus some long runs and tough cardio:) I doing that till the end of May and we will see what I look like after that.If I see results I'll keep it up, but with the wedding being at the end of June I may work UB a little more in June month.

So its a little wet here today but I think I will take my run outside, then after the run I am going to do KPC.

Chat with you gals when I get home!
Lori:)

Good morning runners

Sarah...how are you enjoying your taper??

Judy..that is cool you got to watch Boston. My sister ran it quite a few years ago, she had an awesome time.

Enjoy your run Laura...I am glad our rain is gone for a bit.

I am so glad you knee problems went away Missy!! Yes, your mini is getting closer. I bet you will do great. I might be able to do one if I could survive the swim...can you dogpaddle???...:)

Karin slow and steady is a great way to run! (I do it all the time!) I hope you do great in your upcoming 5K!

Watch out for those pigs Mattea...looks like another sunny day here!..:)

I'll be doing GS Back & Biceps, abs and hoping for about a 7 mile run

Have a great day...:)

Hello All!

It is raining here today so I will need to alter my workout plans. On my schedule is either a 2 mile run or crosstraining. I think I might do Low Max or maybe even one of the IMAXs. I'll decide as lunch time approaches.

Wendy, are you feeling better today? Do you still have your cough?

Sarah, do you live in Ohio? I thought I read in one of your posts about running over the bridge in Cincinnati.

Have a nice run today, if that is your plan!

Morning everyone,
I got up late again. The time change is finally taking it's toll on me, lol! So tonight is a 5 mile run at marathon pace (9:00) and GS Biceps/Triceps.

Looks like everyone has a great day lined up. I'm already thinking about what kind of rotation to do after the marathon. I think it'll be a hybrid of Cathe's April 2006 lowerbody rotation with running and the heavy leg days done at the gym. I start training for the August 50k the middle of May so I have to fit that in too.

Well, I have a 5k on Saturday that I'm really looking forward to...the course is in a park and mostly trail. I had my fastest 5k PR there last year and actually placed 3rd in my age/gender group, I'm hoping for a similar finish again. :) Of course there weren't that many racers in my age group that day, lol! Ahhh....the benefits of getting older. ;-)

I ended up doing my runerval workout on my treadmill. God it kicked my butt!!!! I didnt finish the last 10minutes of it. I figured they rate it a 9+ for difficulty so I shouldnt be able to get through it anyway. Anyway I plan on adding it to my workouts 1x week for speed work. It is a beautiful day today ,would of been nice to runoutside but I really wanted to try that runerval ,so today was the day. Goodluck kathy on your 5k this weekend. Let us know how you do. How do you like the trail running? Do you find it harder than running on the road? Carole, have a nice 7mile run, its perfect out today. How do you manage to have energy to do one of cathes workouts after a 7mile run? What is the shortest amount you run, mileage wise on a day?

have a nice day everyone:)

Kathy...I also love the benefits of an older age group!! I hope you do great in your 5K!! So after a marathon you want to do a rotation with heavy leg lifting...you are crazy girl!!!..:+ :)

Laura most of the time I do my Cathe workouts before I run. That could change when the weather heats up here. The shortest I run is 3 miles.

The 7 miles today was nice. Tough, but I am trying to get in 40 miles this week. Nice and sunny for all the Californian runners out there!!!

Hi to all of you to follow...:)

Good lord ladies we are a bunch of running maniacs! I didn't manage to get a run in last evening. Let's just say that I came home to DH, who was cooking (yay!), and a "dinner emergency" (boo!). But it way my day off anyway, and I did start a new habit at work yesterday-climbing-and descending-the 15 flights of stairs in the library tower at least twice a day. That is not easy, lol! Today is lots of kickboxing, KPC+the cardio from CTX kickbox.

Carole-It's sunny here today too...do I hear the flapping of oversized wings?

Sarah-That's not tapering, that's just turning the long run endurance energy to "functional fitness" endurance}(

Lori-Can I just say, just reading your workouts always makes me tired! I'd be really interested to see what you rotation is for May, if you don't think that looking at it might just kill me!

Kathy-Good luck in your race this weekend, sounds like a beautiful run!

Laura-Sounds tough! I'm almost glad I don't have a treadmill at times, nothing making me go faster, and faster, and faster, lol.

LOL, Carole...yeah, I think I have my rotation all figured out now. Hey, with shorts weather coming up...I gotta do what I gotta do. ;-)

Thanks, Mattea!

Laura, can you tell me more about Runervals? Which one would you recommend? I just went over to the Runerval website and I'm tempted! I have all the Cardio Coaches but I'm always looking for more variety. It sure alleviates the boredom of treadmill running when you have someone there to motivate you. ;-)

Kathy

I'm back from my lunch workout. Due to time constraints I only did Imax 2 premix 6-10. I need to fit in strength training, but my body keeps telling me to rest 2 days a week and my lunch hour is only so long. What's a gal to do? I guess I could try to split upper body & lower body days on my short run days, but I will need to try to limit those workouts to about 20 minutes. I'll have to see what I can come up with.

How long are your normal workouts?

Kathy,

I only have the cheetah runerval. Its my first one and let me tell ya, it isnt easy. You can never out grow this workout. I am adding it to my workout 1xweek to see if it helps me improve my 5k times this summer. It has you running on an incline as well as increasing your pace in intervals. I was sweating buckets and those people on the video are running way faster than me 10mph.YIKES!!!!

Thanks, Laura. :) I'll probably get the hill climber and 10k builder to try (since they're more in my price range right now! - $14.95 each) ;-)

Kathy

Awe, I'm always last to post!

Well this dang head cold turned into the chest cold caused me to oversleep and I missed my AM workout! Grrrr I have been grouchy ever since! But, alas, the sun is shining so lovely here in beautiful California!

Great runs posted today; you all rock and your posts have inspired me to just tell everyone in my household to get outta my way when I get home and get in a treadmill run!! I can make up the LB workout in the morning! Yeah! That’s what I’m going to do!!

Oh, and P.S. –
Sarah - I wanted to thank you for sharing your stretching photos. I have been doing them BEFORE and AFTER each run and I think they are helping me to not get injured again! You rock girl, and I’ll be rooting for you on May 7th!

kathy,
I got the cheetah fast in video, so it only cost me 12.95 just thought I'd let you, some are available in video and are cheaper.
