Didnt get a chance to post yesterday but I ran 4 1/2 miles. It was gorgeous out. I have bootcamp this morning. I have been up since 3a.m. cant sleep. Anyway with it supposably going to rain today, I switched my workouts between yesterday and todays. I was suppose to run today and do bootcamp yesterday but couldnt waste a nice day to run outside instead of being in a hot gym. Sarah, where did you get the shorts that hold the gels at? sounds like everyone else is having good runs! Do some of you run faster on some days than on others? It was nice yesterday but my run was slower. Actually the last few have been as far as pace goes, dont know why except maybe because the girl I have been running with hasnt been running much. sometimes she says she needs to slow down and I do but even when she doesnt say anything I notice time wise isnt as good as I had been doing. I just dont want to lose my faster average pace that I worked all winter to work up to. any suggestions?

Good Morning Laura! Sorry you can't sleep! Hopefully, it won't "hit ya" until later this evening! If you can grab a cat nap, take it!

I ran with the training group last night, 9.5 miles. It was a gorgeous night, weather was perfect. Before the run, we had the marathon coordinator come in and tell us about the race weekend events. After the run, the coaches did a Q and A since the day is fast approaching. I am VERY excited!

Laura, I bought my gel holding shorts at a specialty running store called The Running Spot. However, they are local. I am sure Fleet Feet would carry the very exact same thing.

Also, I do run slower some days thans others. Last night, I wanted a faster pace since I like my Tuesday night runs to be more challenging, so I hung with a 24 year old and had her drag me all over the city!:D If you want to keep up your speed, do 1 speed session a week and then maybe get out there without your running partner another day and do a faster steady state. Just a suggestion...from a slow poke!:p I am sure the fast ones have much better ideas!

Elliptical and ME for me today!

Good morning runners

Laura, Sarah is right and by running with someone faster you will get faster. Also to get faster you have to run faster and doing one speedwork a week is a good idea. The problem with too much fast running is it either wears you out or can increase your chance for injury. You don't want either!!!

Sarah...I have some shorts I got along time ago that hold my gel packets well. I searched and searched for more and could never find them. I got mine at a marathon I was running. I have seen more though the last few years. They are great! I am so envious of your nice running weather...no runnning in shorts in this rain for me!

I'll be heading out for a wet 5 mile run this morning...

Enjoy your runnning...:)

Hi Laura, Sarah and Carole :7

Carole- I've noticed your weather on the weather channel, yikes!!! it is a constant monsoon!:-(

Sarah When is that marathon? I am getting excited for you! Your contagious!! LOL

Laura- I am pretty slow at this point too.

I did my almost 6 mile run with my friends this morning. I stretched really, really well by my car before driving home and now I am icing my calf and groin. I can't bring myself to get in an ice bath!! x(

PS- I am trying out new over the counter inserts which are supposed to have good support for arch, mid foot and decent heel cushioning. They felt good during KM blasts yesterday and also during today's run :)

Good morning to all!

I did a hill-blaster workout on my treadmill this morning. I probably ended up doing a little over 4-miles. Had to stop to get ready for work...darn!

Hope everyone has/had great runs today!!

Hi girls. Today was a five mile run for me and 25 min of yoga. I wanted to get outdoors for it but I homeschool three kids so it's the treadmill for me. Maybe this weekend but of course it will rain.

Sarah I'm so excited for you. It'like Christmas. Isn't It???

Hello Ladies -

Today was the usual 30 min run/walk, and I am going to do GS biceps tonight. Last night I did the cardio medley at the gym which was really fun. 15 min of elliptical, step mill, and arc trainer. I was really hard, I guess because my body hasn't adapted to this mode of cardio yet, but fun.

Good morning ladies,

I will be spinning this evening and doing my core workout. I have been running for 4 days straight and need a break. I will be doing another 5k this weekend and need to get some rest on my legs. I use these 5k's as my speed wokout.

Sarah, I got my shorts and tights with pockets for the gels from
raceready.com.

Laura, I have these in black but have yet to try them out on a test run. I will this weekend. They hold plenty of gels for an entire marathon, I just need to make sure my fuel belt doesn't cover up the gel pockets.

http://www.raceready.com/women/2002ld.html

I know some squirt their gels into one of their fuel belt bottles and they just insert it into the fuel belt up side down. I have not tried this because then I don't know how much gel I have consumed. What if I don't take in enough?? I never wait until I 'need' gel, so how do I know how much to take in?? Experts...advice??

sarah,
no I didnt get up early to beat lori, wish I could have slept!!oh well I got to go to kmart and get my daughter an easter basket for her easter egg hunt this morning. I was there at 5am. But bootcamp kicked my butt this morning too. the next two days are gonna be rest days for me. My legs are feeling tired and I have my first half saturday and want to make sure I am rested up for it. Those shorts are cute but I dont think I could get away with wearing the short shorts. I like the ones that are about 3 1/2inches long. I dont have the legs for the short ones like you sarah. Your in great shape. I bet your not slow either from the sounds of your long runs. When I say faster even a 9 minute mile would be great. On my 5ks I managed to sqeeze out 8 1/2min pace but cant hold it longer than the 3 miles. For my half I am going at least for the first half 9:30 pace then will see how I feel for the second half of that. My friend is going to be pacing me. He is more experienced and doing it for training not time. so he doesnt mind if I slow him down. As for the speed training I try to do one once a week but the last week with the girl I run with once or twice a week, runs have been at least 10 minutes where as before they were in the 9:17-9:30. She just started the last month running again with me. I run on the weekends with another friend who was faster than me and that is how I worked up to a faster pace. I just dont want to lose that after working so hard to get there. I know a slower run once a week or so is good for you. Especially the long runs but last sunday , my friend kevin was killing me and my other friend. I said if he keeps this up I wont make the 11.5miles. But he has pushed me and added hills to my runs. tough but I know it will help me in the end. I also bought one of the runnervals to try out after the marathon to help with a better pace, it looks tough. talk with ya later.

this might be a dumb question but has anyone ever ran with a weighted vest on? wouldnt that make you faster when you ran without it on after training like that for awhile? just curious, I saw them in a performance magazine.

Hey Gals,

Just getting on..not sure whats up with my computer but it wouldn't let me visit the site.

I did a 14 kms run today in 1 hour.I think thats the fastest speed yet, it felt as if I was running from someone:)
Glad to hear everyone is having a good day!
Lori:)
