A Vlad in the tub!!!!

DH is normally the doggie washer, and was going to give Vlad a bath this weekend, as he seems to be extra smelly this past week. I don't think I've given him a bath since he was baby, and he's about 11 months old now and somewhere between 50-55lbs. Not the biggest dog in the world, but he is ALL legs.

So, I was off work early today, and didn't have enough time to workout before picking up DS, so I figured I'd give the dogger his bath. He isn't the worst bather ever, he just stands there and looks miserable, but he is quite possible the worst getter-in-the-tub ever!! I took his bandana and flea collar off, he doesn't wear a real collar in the house. He figured out what was going on when I gathered up the supplies, and goes to hide under the kitchen table, tucking all 12 miles of his legs underneath him. There is nothing to grab on to, and the kitchen floor is slippery. I manage to get the body of the dog, and scoot him out from under the table, but I lose him when I am trying to stand up and off he goes into the living room. I finally get him backed into the bathroom and close the door. When I am finally able to pick him up, he does a Go Go Gadget! with his legs and shoots them in every which direction. Seems like everytime I got part of him in the tub, another part popped out. With Spyro, all I had to do was point to the tub, and he hopped in!!

So, my dogger is finally freshly washed, he stood still and miserable for the washing, and smells like vanilla oatmeal. I, however, smell like wet, smelly dog, and I need to go pick up DS and take him for a haircut. Hopefully, no one stands to close to me!

I think the doggie washing goes back to being DH's job. :p:)

Funny you should talk about bathtime! I'm sitting in the homeoffice smelling wet dog. Hubby promised me that he would give the dog a bath two weekends ago. Still no bath. So as usual all the dirty work falls on me, I get her in the tub, she's pretty good about getting in and staying there but she's part lab and waterproof, so getting her wet to get her clean is the hard part! Today my mom called just as I got her in and asked her to lay down in the water to wet her under-carriage down. So Sweet Puppy got to soak while I talked to my mom. Which actually seemed to help.

But she's clean, I'm clean, the bathroom is a wreck, and now I need to do a load of towels. Sigh. The good news is I looked at the clock before and after the bath. What I thought took forever actually only took about an hour. Incentive for next time.:D

Oh, I love the dog-bath routine. :D

I have to sneak up on Snoopy, because if he gets wind of what's going to happen, he makes a mad dash for the unreachable spot under our bed.

Oh my!! We have a Shiba Inu, which is a breed famous for it's "Shiba Scream". Any time they are unhappy about something, they literally "scream" like a small child!!! So needless to say, giving our shiba a bath is quite noisy! He flails around in the tub and makes his 15 pounds seem like 50. All the while screaming his little head off. When we lived in an apartment I was so scared someone would call the police on us thinking we were torturing a poor child or something!!
