rotation purchase frustration....?

I am doing Cathe's July rotation. It's the first rotation I've done that I did not design myself. I'm loving it. However, there are some DVD's I have to purchase, which I'm willing to do if it's worth it. Is it worth it? Cardio Kicks, MIC, Ab Hits. Are these so outdated that they'll bug me? I have Coremax so am I being redundant by purchasing another Ab w.o.? Also, I'm not wild about high impact aerobics, I'm recovering from Plantar Fascitis, so I gotta be light on the feet.
Next month I was thinking about doing the June rotation which requires CTX upper, Step fit, Ctx kickbox, and stepworks. I have the new stuff but not these oldies. I would love the opinion of anyone out there that has experience with all these?
Thanks,
Heather

Heather,

If you're not big on high impact aerobics and are having feet troubles, I would not recommend MIC. It has a lot of traditional coninuous high impact (IMO) and my knees and feet don't take to a lot of high impact these days.

I don't have Cardio Kicks or Ab Hits so I can't comment on those.

Good luck with your decisions.:)

Hi Heather,

I'm of the opinion that you can substitute the the workouts you don't have with others workouts that you do have or other activities that have similar aerobic intensity. I think any other kickbox workout could be subbed for Cardio Kicks, and if you're avoiding high impact, I would sub an aerobically intense, but low impact cardio activity for that (challenging bike ride, elliptical machine, etc.).

The ab work in Ab Hits is more of the traditional style (i.e. crunches). If you have other workouts with that kind of work in it, you could sub it, or just do some on your own.

Which newer stuff do you have?

Hi, Heather!
I don't think you have to buy workouts you don't have (unless you want to, of course):
FOr Cardio Kicks, do KPC (CK is more of a 'hi-low with kickbox" while KPC is more authentic kickbox feel, but I think you could use either)
MIC: this combines hi-lo floor and step. Hard to find a direct substitution. And maybe not so good for PF!
Ab Hits is just a compilation of ab workouts from Cathe's previous wokrouts. I don't see why you couldn't substitute Core Max, or even use some ab segments from the Cathe workouts you already have (or another instructor!).

For next month, just sub a good upper body workout for CTX upper (like PUB, or one of the premixes on another weight workout).
For step fit and step works any steady-state step workout (Cathe or not) should do the trick.
CTX kickbox (I'm not sure what body part that is paired with), you could do any kickboxing workout, followed by the body part segment from a weight workout. (Of the workouts that are mentioned, CTX and Cardio Kicks are perhaps the least 'dated' feeling. Step Fit and Step Works could feel a bit dated, but it depends on your tolerance.

I would definitely recommend getting CTX if you can. I don't think it has a "dated" feel to it, and the workouts are all great!

Thanks so much for your replys. One more question...of all the oldies you all have which ones do you like to use the most? I have Rhythmic Step that I still use. But, mostly I stick to the newer ones. I really like music that I recognize. My foot issue allows me to do step pretty much just fine, it's the high impact straight aerobics that is too harsh. I don't have slow and heavy which I have considered getting, I've heard a lot of people refer to it as a goody. I don't have the Hardcore extreme or the Terminator. Are those important to have? This aerobic video habit thing can be hard on the wallet. Maybe, I'm just anxious for the new series and want something new. Although, I am relieved not to have to buy everything in the rotation.
