Rollerblading for osteoporosis?

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone could clear the air for my 57y/o mother and her friend.... they rollerblade a couple nights a week at moderate intensity and they think this is considered "weight bearing" exercise like the kind that helps fight osteoporosis. If someone knows if this is true or not, thank you in advance for any info.

probably. Walking is. Basically, I think anything where you're not sitting on your butt (i.e. cycling) is considered weight bearing.

Walking is better than rollerblading because you're striking your foot with force with every step and that reverbs thru the skeleton and stress = more bone created. So blading is definitely not the best one for this, since you barely lift your foot above the ground and strike it with little force (if you're a good skater). Cycling is not good, swimming is not good. If they enjoy this activity, it's good for cardio (& 100% better than nothing) but they need to add something else more weight bearing (like walking, or step, or KB or you get the idea. Lift the feet up and down).
