Some of the road trip tips posted earlier, now compiled together.

--- If you sweat, like most of us do, you will have some
S-T-I-N-K-Y clothes at the end of each w/o - and we have 4! Take your number of w/o outfits - headband, shirt, bra, undies, pants, socks, whatever, and pack each complete set in a gallon plastic ziplock bag. That way you just pull out a new bag for each new workout, and you keep your used stinky ones together until you return home to wash (may need extra heavy duty detergent for these babies! ) . Once you wear them and pack them back in their respective bag, hang them out in the hotel room (over the towel bar, the shower curtain bar, the desk chair, etc. This allows them to dry out before you pack them away to take back home.

--- For the showers at the gym you can bring a refill package of those disposable facial wipes. They worked as well as full body soap. No need for separate soap/gel, cloth/puff, etc. Or pack yourself a shower kit in a small ziplock bag. Throw a small travel size or mail sampler shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and bath puff in and you'll be ready to line up for the showers in a hurry; just grab and go!

--- How to make the experience last. Chose a new body wash with a new fragrance - but Don’t NOT USE IT until the RT. That way when you use the fragrance after the RT, your will be brought back to the RT experience linked to the fragrance.

--- Bring towels. You might want to pack two or three small hand towels from your home to bring to the gym. Cathe's gym has towels that you can rent, if you like, or you can bring them from the hotel BUT you would need to be careful to take them back. We all set our towels and water bottles around the perimeter of the room close to our step or area. For the step classes you can also put sweat rag, locker key, water bottle, etc. inside one or the risers. But most of us lined our stuff around the gym's perimeter.

--- Lockers, the gym has lockers that use quarters. Be respectful of the gym patrons and share a locker if possible so we don’t become locker hogs while we are there.

--- DVDs to sign. Bring just the sleeve cover to have autographed. That way you can leave your DVD's at home.

We'll add to this list as we think of more tips. C U ALL SOON!

Adding two packing tips!

Thanks Deb for getting this rolling! :) I'll add a couple more packing tips for us!

Cameras -- Don't forget to pack your camera and/or video camera, battery and battery CHARGER!

Gym bag -- Bring along a collapsible gym bag (one that squishes down so that you can pack it easily into your suitcase). You'll use this bag to go to Cathe's gym for the day Saturday. Before the 2005 RT, I bought one at Sports Authority (in the department with the soccer/baseball/etc. equipment bags) that was on sale for about $18. You don't need a huge bag, just one that's large enough for:

**Your two ziploc bags with your two fresh changes of workout clothes for the two Saturday afternoon classes (don't forget fresh socks!);
**An empty ziploc bag for stuffing with the workout clothes that you wear over to the gym on Saturday morning, after you get them all sweaty and stinky! ;-)
**A t-shirt, lightweight jacket, zip-off pants -- whatever clothes (if anything) that you want to wear OVER your workout clothes while we eat lunch and while we're between classes;
**Your ziploc bag with toiletries for showering or freshening up;
**Your hairbrush;
**Your wallet (remember that there will be Cathe gear and DVD's for sale!);
**Your camera and/or video camera;
**Anything you're bringing for Cathe to autograph;
**Your lifting gloves, if you choose to bring them along from home; and
**Your refillable water bottle, if you bring one. (Cathe will have water available, too, but it's also nice to have your own Nalgene or something similar!)
**Your Who's Who book and a pen, so that you can continue to get to know your fellow Road Trippers and make little notes, exchange phone numbers, etc.!

That's it for me right now. Y'all chime in if you think of anything I've forgotten for the "Things You Need For Your Saturday Gym Bag" list!

Have a nice rest-of-Sunday, everybody, and by the way, thanks in advance for getting those Who's Who forms and pictures back to me soon! ;-)

RE: Adding two packing tips!

I've been waiting for this before I begin my "what to get in one place before packing" list, followed by my "what I need to buy" list and my "what to actually pack"list. Thanks!

Hi all!

Some things that helped me at the '05 RT. You can throw a dryer sheet in the zip lock bag so the stinky clothes will be a bit friendlier when you open them after the weekend. I also packed those face wipes so if I didn't get a chance to shower I just wiped down the sweat and rinsed my face. I did use a locker and it was a big help. I brought my Nalgeen H20 bottle to the gym with me and it was great. I put cash in my w/o top (or socks) so I could buy Cathe gear. I kept my camera in my locker b/c I didn't want it to get stepped on during class :eek:
