Retirement Ceremony

Cathlete
I would like to cordially invite all you Cathe-ites to a special retirement ceremony!!!

Guests of Honor:
My #3 and 5# dumbbells (NO, they're NOT pink either!)

I have officially put them into retirement, never to be used again. Since starting on this site, following some specialized nutrition advice, and all the inspiration found here, I have only touched them in the last 6 weeks to take them off my rack to get to my barbell! Not to mention that I need room on said rack to store the #30 and #35 dumbbells that will be coming to reside at my house in the very near future! I rarely use my #10 DB as well, but I'm not about to get rid of them just yet! I was doing #25 DB chest presses last night and realized that it was just a year ago that I had a hard time doing them with my #10s!!!

I still use my #8 DB for rear delt flyes, but after my workout last night, I believe that they will soon to be retired as well!

Whoo hoo. Way to go Amy. Don't forget to keep a 3 pounder handy to use as a wedge for deadlifts though. They make good doorstops too.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^5 Amers!!!!!!
*nothing wrong with 3 & 5 PINK tho!!!!! :p
Ok- mine are yellow & blue - I think I'll keep them- ;-)

You are AWESOME! Training the RIGHT way!!!!

oh wow, this really will happen? it seems so far away for me, lol. CONGRATS to you! that's an awesome accomplishment!

Great work! Isn't it funny when you free your mind to lifting weights how much weight you can lift? I guess someone told me that 10 lb db were heavy, and I believed them for the longest time. It wasn't until Cathe came along that I thought I'd pick up anything heavier! Congrats on your hard work!
PS my 8 lbs db are hot pink. They remind me of Jane Fonda. They were my moms. Can't part with them.

Congratulations on your progress!! Those are some great strides in just one year. :)

Before you decide to ditch them entirely, 3# and 5# DBs are perfect sizes for rotator cuff work.

Wow! That's amazing. I still use my 5s a fair chunk, especially with the new workouts. I have pretty good muscle tone, but I'm definitely NOT strong.

Congratulations!!! That is a huge accomplishment!! I don't think I will ever be able to get rid of my 5s for alot of my shoulder work!

OOOOH, thanks Robin! I had forgotten about having to use the 3's for heel raising! I guess that I will just have to stash them where I can get to them when I need them and use their spot for something else!

Shelley- I am slowing working on gaining strength. It's taking me a while, but I am very pleased with my progress.

Wow, that's great! So after only one year of strength training, you are lifting that much?? Maybe there is hope for me!
