Results of my search for the perfect workout shoe

Hi,

I posted in February about finding the perfect workout shoe. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the Freddys, which many of you recommended but I decided to try the Ryka Rhythm II which many of you also recommended. Here's what I found after 2 weeks use:
- Higher cut than I thought although I knew I had bought a mid-cut shoe - not necessarily a bad thing I'm finding out.
- Overall very stiff but starting to loosen up. I am hoping they don't loosen up too much too fast but I think they're going to be ok. I need this kind of stability.
- Slightly less room in the toe box than I would have liked. Problem resolved when I replaced the Ryka insert with my own (non-custom) orthotic inserts.
- Really good shock absorption! Very necessary and welcome with Hard Core series.
- No heel slippage. Hooray!!
- Look very cool in black. :)

So, I would say that this is about as close as I'm going to get. They are a little pricey but nothing is too good for my feet, :) although I would never pay this much for dress shoes! I do have my priorities, after all...

Thanks for everyone's input.

Hi Midnight!
I'm really glad you were able to find a pair of shoes that work really well for you; trust me I know how hard that isx( !! Did you order the Rykas online? I am curious about those shoes as well. I wanted to let you know that unfortunately the website where I order my freddys from(www.usbodyware.com ) will no longer be selling them due to problems with the parent company. I ended up buying whatever else they had left in my size (which wasn't much!) so I could stock up; that's how much I love those shoes!!! If I find another website that sells the Freddy's at reasonable prices (they are pretty pricey but worth it IMHO) I will definitely let you know.

Enjoy your new shoes!!!:7

Hi,

I got them directly from Ryka at www.rykastore.com. I didn't feel like taking the time to surf the web to do price comparisons - I just wanted the shoes. Did I say they come in black???

What a coincidence! My Rhythm IIs came yesterday and I put them on this morning for my workout (High Step Challenge) and haven't taken them off yet. I love them! I got them from holabirdsports.com for $68.90 including shipping-by far the cheapest I found them. I did have to order a full size larger than I normally wear, but they fit wonderfully, and I had no foot pain at all, which is why I was looking for new ones yet again. Does anyone have the original Rhythms? I'm wondering how they compare, as I saw them online today (sportsmansguide.com) in black for $48 including shipping! I'm wondering how they compare to the IIs--I'm thinking I might order the black pair since I just got the white. TIA!
