Rescued Animals & My Thanks

Sorry to hear about Hunter.

We had to put our dog to sleep in November 2002 and I decided that was it for us and animals. Wouldn't you know in January 2003 a cat was crying outside our house in a terribly cold and snowy time. I finally caved in with my kids and kept him in the garage for the night. It was ONE night only - I was a dog person NOT a cat person. We called around and he wasn't claimed by anyone. As you can imagine he has adopted us and I can't imagine not having him.

I was out of work at the time and ended out volunteering at a shelter for ferrel cats... we also have a little girl who is now a lap cat... and formally ferrel.

Sorry to hear about your loss.

I am sorry for your loss of Hunter. Our beloved Kitty had to be put down when she was 17. Even though we had another shelter cat, the house was so lonely, we adopted three rambunctious kittens (all sisters) from the local shelter. They helped bring us out of our depression (as well as giving the older cat some exercise--someone to chase). Our pets are not really gone, as long as we remember them.

Bravo to you, Linda! I always encourage people to adopt more than one at a time. You're only the second person I know who got three at once! (The other woman and her husband then added a fourth!).

Animals can bring such joy into our lives! When I'm feeling down, I just look at one of my cats doing something sweet or goofy (or both!) and it makes me smile or laugh!

Whenever I stay at someone's house and they have no pets, there's just something wrong feeling about it. Especially at bedtime, when there's no fuzzy little warm body to cuddle up with or at least say goodnight to.

I have to agree with you, Katherine!

When we adopted the kittens, everyone kept asking "Do you have any idea what you are getting into?" We ferverently responded, "Yes!" We never regretted it for a minute and would do it all over again. There is something special about litter mates living together.
