Reiki, is healing belief, depending on your religion you may or may not want to do this. Basically the Reiki specialist will use their energy drawn from a pray, and help straighten our your aura, usually by moving there hands along your body, but never touching, you. Or some push different pressure points and drawing out the bad stuff with a type of massage, or with hand movements over a certain part of your body. And some use a combination of both. It's considered natural healing, where the Reiki specialist will help your body, just heal more efficiently. Or just re-align you, and make you feel like you got more energy.
I’ve seen some amazing stuff, with Reiki, because if you believe in it, it can help your body heal itself better then anyone ever thought possible. The person does go threw quite a bit a training to do this, depending on why type of degree they are. 1st, 2nd or 3rd, so your not going to jane or joe who one day decided to do something different and make money at it, but they just make it up as they go. You got to have quite a bit of money just to get the training.
But I also know since is from the Japanese religious community, that there are some real hatred for it from some of the bible religions, (Bible religions = Christian, catholic etc. I group them all together, as I can never keep track of who thinks what is the work of the devil because it’s from a different religion). So if your religious check with your church or whatever to see if your allowed to do this.
I have had Reiki done, and at first I was a really big skeptic, if these little pills can’t help me, how the heck is this stuff?? But while I was in Az, it did relieve enough of the allergenic reaction to the heat, that the when I seen the doctor the next day he signed the release so I could fly home. Something that shouldn’t have happen, as the longer I’m in heat the worse I get. Just like any other reaction the longer your exposed to it, in a constant manner, the worse you get. But I’m glad I tried it, as for one it worked, but another it allowed me to see how another religion heals their sick, and learn a lot more about them. Granted a lot of it now has been Americanized the basic principle is still there.

Hey Sherry! I had the pleasure of a session with a reiki master recently. It was a wonderful experience, extremely relaxing. The master I saw also aligns chakras (power wheels that corespond to the nerve plexi of the body) and 're-harmonizes' energy with Tibetan bowls that make the most beautiful eerie sounds. The person giving Reiki acts as a conduit for universal energy. I feel pretty confident that I don't really need a conduit for universal energy, that my chakras feel pretty much as they did and that I am as 'harmonized' now as before but it was definitely time well spent. It was a few hours of 'me' time that was interesting, aesthetically awesome and completely memorable. I came away feeling wonderful and spiritually pampered. No matter the modality I will never underestimate the placebo effect.
