Recommendations for getting training on coaching?

Does anyone know of a training program for learning how to coach people that they think is good effective?

I know of Well Coaches, and I was told to check out intrinsiccoaching.com, but they don't describe their philosophy/training. I emailed them, and got a sales pitch back. I'm not impressed--I don't want a sales pitch, I want substance to know who they are and why I would choose them over any other training.

Any other recommendations?

Do you mean a life coach? I would think that would require a background in psychology, but I'm bumping this in case anyone can better answer your question.

Coach U is a well known and respected organization.... Many of the coaches turned author/public speakers started there

Personally I used 2 coaches from there (years ago) & it helped me immensely to focus my career
