Cathlete
hello all

i am new to this site but happy to be hear and hopefully get great advice and hear good info. i am just 5 wks along and am looking to get some of cathe's dvd's that i'll be able to modify as things move along. i consider myself pretty fit - i run 4-5 times a week, do strength training 4 times a week, and am addicted to cathe's care workout. i also ordered the low max workout but haven't gotten it yet. any others anyone recommends? i'd like to keep up a pretty good level of fitness as long as i can to minimize any unnecessary gains...

on a different note, i have read so much about good nutrition, and i really really try, but does anyone out there ever succumb to a bad food day?

thanks for any input.

I am pretty new here too! But wanted to say congrats!!!
I am now 6 months along and have kept up the running most of the time, but just reduced my pace and mileage. I try to warm up with a 5 minute walk, run 20 minutes/2 miles, then walk for another 30 minutes. I do that 4-5 days a week. I have also continued my strength training in the gym, 3-4 days a week. I did have to cut back from about 8 weeks to 12 weeks, because I was so tired and queasy. So I just walked that month.
And I have had to give in a few bad food days!! Don't beat yourself up over that. I am trying really hard to minimize my gaining, but in reality I am normally so strict that this is probably the only time in my life I will ever let myself give in to cravings, so I am trying to limit it, but enjoy a few indulgences!!

Morris congrat!!!

Congrats!:)

As far as workouts go I did almost all of Cathe's workouts up until the day my water broke. I just modified to low impact toward the end. I also didn't do too much with circuit workouts because it just got my heart rate up too high.

I still did all of Cathe's weight workouts but lowered the weight to 70-75% of what I did prepregnancy (doctor's orders).

As far as having a bad food day - heck yes. I had too many of them but I too had the attitude that splurging once in a while (often more than once in a while) isn't going to hurt me as long as I am staying active.

Oh, the first trimester is exhausting so don't be disappointed if there are times you just need to rest. I had about 4 weeks (I think weeks 7-11) where I was lucky to workout more than 3 times a week. It is so tiring so don't be hard on yourself, it's normal. After all, you have a baby inside you that is sapping your energy and that's most important. Besides, after that time is up you'll have your energy back so you can get in your workouts.

I hope that helps,

sounds like you have a great video library. if i were to get a new video, what do you think? i love core max, and i just got low max but have not done it yet. i thought perhaps the bootcamp and muscle endurance? but i'd love any suggestions. also, now that you are farther along, do you just skip any thing ab related? thanks for the info.

After the 20 week mark I really didn't do much in the way of ab work since you can't be on your back.

I wouldn't recommend Bootcamp/Muscle Endurance for pregnancy just because BC is high impact and will make your heartrate skyrocket. I just think this workout is too tough for pregnancy. ME on the other hand, can be modified with lower weights. Oh, but watch it on the leg presses as they too can get your heart rate up- I usually stopped and took a short break between sets and used only 4 risers instead of 5.

Out of all of Cathe's workouts my top picks would be:

*Low Impact Step
*The entire Body Blast series - easy to modify and there are so many premixes
*Basic Step/Body Fusion

Hope that helps,
