Reading old threads

Lying in bed and trying to fall asleep I decided to jump on the forums and get caught up, but decided to hit “open discussion “ and went all the way to the beginning 1999 page 1306. On page 1304 ( I think it was) there were 2 great questions that I found fun and interesting since we now have both items , the mini step and Cathe’s calendar.
The first one I read was about getting the “Step” company to make the mini step because they had just made it for the Pure Strength Series. Cathe had asked not to contact the company because the company was not interested in manufacturing the mini step. So my question is does anyone know when it became available?
The 2nd discussion was the idea of a Cathe calendar which was brought up at a Cathe road trip.
Does anyone know the 1st year that it came out?

It’s fun to read the questions from back then. I’m pretty sure we had just vhs tapes how far we’ve come.
Night all

The 1st Cathe calendar i purchased featured the original STS, so maybe December 2009 for calendar year 2010. Could have been earlier ones I didn't purchase though.

I was reading an old thread (from 2018) yesterday I found interesting where Cathe & her partner Chris discussed the future of the industry:

The old threads can be fun to read! I was a member of the forum before 1999 and posted more regularly then, but enjoy looking through some of the threads from a time when it was more active. It's very easy to go down a rabbit hole of time for sure, though! :D

Yeah, the rabbit holes can be fun! I was a member back in the 1990's too but under a different name. Life got too busy for awhile to post much. I couldn't recall the name nor what email account i used so I had to resign-up after retirement. Forums were more active back then too it seemed.

Oooo @Debinmi I wish you could recall your old user name! If you were a frequent poster at the time I probably would remember you! I do get how busy life can get, even now when I'm not working either. There were some great discussions--with some drama of course--but it wasn't "quite" as noticeable since there was more overall activity. Maybe I've just forgotten it.

I tried many iterations of what I thought it might be in searches, but nothing came up. It became easier to just re-sign-up. Same thing over at Videofitness.com as I frequently posted there and at Collagevideo. We may have crossed paths but I really only remember a few other posters and have looked them up but they haven't been on in a looong time.

Oh, I lurked far more than I posted, so I think I "knew" the posters more than any of them knew me. I get not remembering what user name I used--I was a member of YaYas and can't recall what my user name was there. I don't even think that forum is around anymore.

I used to post on collage a lot too. Also would post on Nancy’s forum ( from Th Firm when she had a workout website that she was trying to launch her fitness program but I can’t remember the name)

So I got curious ... Cathe promoted the Mini-step with the Basic Step and Body Fusion dvd which came out in 2004. I remember it was so controversial among Cathletes. Some advanced exercisers were so upset that Cathe created dvds for beginners. I was an advanced stepper and enjoyed intricate choreography & i still bought the dvd in the presale along with the Total Body Stretching dvd cuz I figured you never know when you might need something a little slower paced. Then in 2008 or 09, i had to have shoulder repair surgery and as I was recovering I used both & was glad to have them! In fact Total Body Stretching is one of my most used and beloved Cathe dvd. Go figure!

What step was this? The step smaller than the club sized step?

Yes, it's a small club step. It was sold mass market. I remember seeing it in my local grocery store's sporting goods department and at Target. It was probably sold at other stores too like Walmart. It came with a band and an anchor for the Body Sculpting portion. I didn't purchase it because I already had a full-sized club step and bands. You can see it in the clips for Basic Step and Body Fusion and the Low Impact Intermediate Step dvds. I just purchased the dvds in Cathe's presale. But oh my, there were some Cathletes in major upset mode - I thought they were being elitist and unfair to Cather/SNM wanting to attract a larger fan base. Guess there can be controversy with every little change.
