Rash

Gannon is teething and has developed a very ugly rash on his face. He is constantly sucking on his fists and drooling so he has got what looks like a rash and chapped skin all around his mouth and on his chin. Do you know what I can put on it? I have just been rubbing a bit of vaseline on it and I'm not even sure if that helps. I didn't want to put anything like baby lotion or baby oil on it b/c I wasn't sure if it would burn. Any suggestions?

I was going to take him to get his picture taken this week but I guess I'll have to wait until this clears up.

He's teething already? Awwwww, how time flies! Remind me again how old he is? I would do the same as you're doing: keep the area as dry as possible (good luck, right?), and apply a barrier lotion like vaseline. Kate keeps getting slightly inflamed skin above her top lip, from drool that gets trapped under her soother I think, and I've been periodically putting Blistex on her lips. It helps a bit.

Let us know when the first pearly white breaks through!

My ds had the same problem and I found that veseline made it worse. I swear by and still use aquafor. It also worked wonders for my ds eczema. Hope this helps

I swear by Aquaphor as well. I go through a tub of it a year. I put it on everything. I also use A+D on chappy faces/mouths.

Poor sweet thing. I would recommend Lavendar. Real lavendar. It's a cure all. Also good for diaper rash;-)
Also, diaper rash ointment should totally work too. Arbonne makes an INCREDIBLE baby diaper ointment and it'll take away any cuts or blemishes you get too. And it's all natural no animal, by products or crude oil yuk yuks;-)

If this will make you feel any better, when Hannah was 9 months she got all 4 on top in at the same time and it cause diarrhea for 5 days straight;( Didn't phase her, but scared me. I guess I'd rather have that then screaming

Gannon is 4 months. There are no signs of teeth at all yet. He chews on anything and everything. He really likes the frozen wash cloths.

Aquaphor is available at drug stores, Target, etc. It's been around as long as I can remember. It is made by the same manufacturer as Eucerin. It's usually by the skin lotions. My pediatrician usually has little sample tubes that are great for the diaper bag. Good luck with that chappy face.

I have found Acid Mantle to be my miracle cream. It gets rid of any rashes that we have had to deal with (diaper and eczema type rashes) so quickly! It is an OTC cream, i.e. get it at the pharmacy, no prescription needed.
