Rash question to the edu. crowd

My oldest sister called me this morning and said that she has had a terrible cold for 3 weeks. I asked what her symptoms were and along with all the flu like symptoms she said she has a rash on the inside of both elbows and the back of both knees. They look like an oval patch of red with tiny bumps that itch. The thing is, my niece (2yrs) has the same thing and the flu, but her mom (my second to the oldest sister) only has the flu. So any ideas on what it might be?

I don't know, but I would tell them to get to the doctor ASAP! It does NOT sound like just a flu. Could be nothing serious, but a check up would show that.

I'm not sure either but my oldest sone likes to get a rash and it is more defined in warmer regions of his body(we wont mention them) when he has strep. Most of the time this is how I know he has it. It seems to go around the schools a lot. I would definately tell them to go to the doctor.
