I will be in Raleigh for a few days next week for a much needed vacation (the past few weeks have been uber yucky).
Any suggestions on great places to eat? Any other must see things aside from the usual tourist stuff (which I have already done although it was years ago)?
Thanks in advance!

I'm not from Raleigh, but I used to go there to visit my husband when he was in school. There were two great places we often went to eat that I remember: the Pizza-Pasta Cafe in Apex (I know-- not clean eating!) and Danny's Barbecue (http://triangle.citysearch.com/profile/6153337/cary_nc/danny_s_bar_b_que.html). The latter is just wonderful and quite unique. Simple place, and the food is fantastic.

Oh, and downtown Durham has an outdoor shopping area called Brightleaf-- I want to go, but haven't had the time. Here's the link: http://www.historicbrightleaf.com/

Beavs-

I don't live there but I am there for business every 4-6 weeks.. If you are up for steak, a good place to go is the Angus Barn on Glenwood.

I love Raleigh! Its a beautiful city and have often thought that if I had to move anywhere in the US, Raleigh would be it. ( Well other than Hawaii :) )

Have a great time!! Lynn M

Lynn--thanks for the idea. My SO loves steak....I enjoy one on rare occasion so this looks promising. I always liked Raleigh too and I hope it is little less provincial since I last visited. When I lived there many were keen on letting us "Yankees" know our presence was not appreciated. So much for southern hospitality... ;-)
