rainy wedding day

Ah yes, I must be a Cathe addict. It's the morning of my wedding, and I'm sipping my coffee while reading the cathe forums :). The forecast for today is rain, rain, rain. I'm ok with the low Minnesota temp (68degrees), but I really wanted to get some pictures outside. Anyone else have a rainy or otherwise poor weather wedding day? I'm really TRYING to not let this get me down today.

Don't let it get you down, they say, rain is good luck!:)
It may stop, at least for awhile. Have a wonderful day, and have fun.

Congratulations!! Don't worry about the rain -- at least you won't be sweating in this miserable heat the rest of us have -- lol!

It poured on my wedding day and everyone said the same thing, it's supposed to be good luck. Well...we've made it this far...12 years this past May.:) Best wishes and have a wonderful day!:)

Hi Lisa,

Not sure where you are in MN but if you are near St Paul, you could go to the Como Conservatory for pictures. It is really beautiful in there with all the plants & flowers. Don't worry about the rain...this is a joyous day so enjoy every minute:D

BTW, DH and I are celebrating our 25th anniversary today at a wonderful Inn in Stillwater.

Best wishes!

JJ

It was overcast when we got married six Julys ago. But I had planned for everything inside. Just go and enjoy it. It will be over so quickly. Take tons of pictures. savor every moment!

Lisa,

Congratulations! Don't let the rain get you down. Our wedding day started out sunny, then overcast and then by the time we were getting to our reception it was raining. We made the best of it and actually some of my favorite photos were the ones of us getting out of our car at the reception. They were black & white and a couple of the groomsmen held a black umbrella for me as Ryan helped me out. They just looked really classy :)

Concentrate all of your energy on the wonderful man you are about to marry. Everything else will work itself out.

Take a deep breath ;-)

Best of luck to you!

Oh how exciting! Have fun, eat, drink and be merry-look at the rain as "cleansing" the day, a new beginning!:7 By the way, I am originally from Seattle, we are all rainy day brides there!

Congratulations on your wedding. It was a rain/snow mix on my wedding day. By the time the ceremony started It could have been a cat 5 hurricane and it would not have mattered. I agree that it is good luck. We will be happily married for 15 years this november

Lisa, congratulations. Wow, you must be more put together than I was on my wedding day. DH and I got married in PA and it was very humid, hot, and overcast in the morning. The rain held off until right after the ceremony when we went outside for the receiving line. It rained from that point on. I too wanted pictures outside, but we have none from our wedding :(. I hope you have a great day today.

LisaMarie, when DH and I got married it hit a high of 58 degrees and rained sideways all day (and all night) long. Just in passing, I live in Plymouth, MN. Just in passing, my wedding was over 12 years ago.

It ain't about the day, girlfriend, it's about all the blessed days beforehand and afterward.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

A-Jock

You will have a great day!

The morning of my wedding, I went for a run... through sprinkles! (A little unnerving as we had planned a morning outdoor wedding). When I returned from the run, I grabbed the paper and the forecast was for more showers and "morning thunder"! Scarey! Anyhow, it cleared up and became a beautiful sunny day. Just before the ceremony my dad (I got married in my parents' backyard) took out his leaf blower and used it to blow-dry the lawn! LOL!!!!

As it turned out, the light was perfect for photos, and I cut out the daily forecast to put in my album.

This year, on our anniversary, I opened the door for my morning run and said to DH, "It's raining this morning. It rained on this morning four years ago when we got married!" He replied, "Ahhh, how romantic." :)

Just remember, no matter what the weather, the whole thing is a success if you are happily married at the end of the day! Maybe you could go outside with some bright umbrellas and get some kissing-in-the-rain photos.

Here's wishing you many years of joy with your new DH!

Thank you all for your well wishes. It ended up raining morning to night. For any of you in MN, you may have seen the news clips--some major flooding, especially in towns about 30 miles away. Despite the day long rain, we had an incredible wedding day. It was all put into perspective when I watched the Sunday morning news and found out that 5 people died in nearby towns due to the weather.

We ended up having to cancel our Sunday night getaway to Stillwater, as we arrived home Sunday morning to my family tearing up carpet in my basement---I not only had a rain drenched water day--my basement had a "mini-flood". I'm anxious to get my basement dried out and carpet back in---that's my workout area x(

All in all, what an amazing day! Everything but the weather was perfect! Thanks, again!

Hi,

I know you're frustrated, but in 1998, my hubby and I had a March wedding. It was VERY cold up until the day of the wedding, and then it lifted and we had Spring like temps the day of the wedding! Maybe the sun will be out in a few hours...you JUST NEVER KNOW. And heck...even if it doesnt, who cares? Consider them "tears of joy" and just be super happy!!! :7

Congrats!
