Quick Question

Cathlete
I'm new to Cathe on Fit TV, but am really loving her show (no, not just watching!!)...Such a challenge compared to most others out there! No time for boredom, that's for sure!

Am wondering a couple of things...I've been a 6 day a week exerciser for years now, but am having a hard time finding a "full" Cathe set to buy...This is my typical week

Sunday-High Cardio (1/2 hour)-Weights (1/2 hour)
Monday-Low Cardio (1 hour)-Abs (20 minutes)
Tuesday-High cardio (1/2 hour)-Weights (1/2 hour)
Wednesday-Off of work, off of workouts!!
Thursday-Low Cardio (1 hour)-Abs (20 minutes)
Friday-High (1/2 hour)-Weights (1/2 hour)
Saturday-Low (1 hour)-Abs (20 minutes)

I've always been told that you aren't supposed to weight train (cardio, such as step or running wouldn't count) the same part 2 days in a row (abs not included)...Am I correct in this? I have some pretty "beginner" vids at home, and am giving those to a friend who's just gotten into fitness...Which full set of Cathe's would you all recommend with what my typical week looks like??

Thanks in Advance!

Well, you might as well buy the entire collected works of Cathe, because you'll want them all eventually. ;) It becomes an addiction, it really does. :)

You could create a good rotation with any of Cathe's series. There are examples of various rotations on the Video Rotation forum - check those out. There are rotations that used just the videos from the Hardcore series, or just the BodyBlast series, etc. Right now I'm following Cathe's Fat-Loss rotation, which uses only DVDs from the Hardcore series, and I'm really enjoying it. :)

Your supposed to give your muscles a day to recover in between weight training. You can alternate upper body days and lower body days.
What to buy. My very favorite series is The Intensity Series for sure, it's just so fun. As far as your week, I think any of the series would fit in with it. I might get the Intesity series and Low Max. But that's because I have trouble with my feet (Plantar Fascitis) and need a low impact workout in my routine. You probably have some thing you want to especially work on that could point you in the right direction. Or a particular workout you like. Which ones have you loved on fit tv?

Yes, you should allow at least one day in between working the same body part (ie: if you do chest on Monday, don't do it again until Wednesday). Of course, there are a lot of individual differences: some people need more than one day off in between (my shoulders like at least 2!), others might recover more quickly and could possibly work the same muscle group 2 days in a row (but I think very few, or only those who work very light).

If you want to stick to your 1/2 hour weight training schedule, then I would recommend any of Cathe's full-body workouts, split into upper and lower body (do the warm-ups and cool downs both days). Otherwise, most of her weight work is at least 45 minutes long. (Though if you've been doing the same type of rotation for three years, and aren't seeing the progress you'd like, maybe it's time to shake things up and do a longer split routine on two days, and an hour-long full body routine on another day?

Well...I decided that I'd get to Cross Train XPress...That keeps my ab workouts, and hits every area...I think the change to hi/lo in the same day should rev things up a bit! Maybe I'll do yoga on my "off" day?? Have to do that once a week to keep my sanity!

My goal is to add a new Cathe "set" every month...Hopefully I can join you all on rotations by the first of the year!

I just got CTX on Monday, and I've done four of the six workouts so far. Fun cardio, and the upper body and ab work is more challenging than I expected. You'll love it!
