question on eleven lines/nasolabial lines

I have deep eleven lines on forehead between eyebrows. What works better microderm abrasion or botox injections. I've tried creams, facial exercises, relaxation touch and nothing!!! I know its heredetary (my mom, and all three sisters have them). I'm approaching 50 and you know the rest of that....

I'd like to hear what some of you have done and what results you've had

Although I have not had either yet, microderm abrasion will help with fine lines and evens out skin tone. To fill in deeper lines, you need things like Botox and other injectables. Although from what I've heard, botox is the standard for forehead injections.

I've been curious about juvaderm and restalyn for the 'marianette' lines and the parenthesis around the mouth.

My friend had botox on her forehead, she's very happy with the results. She said she had deeper horizontal lines in her forehead. But the first person she went to, she didn't like the results as much, he made her eyebrow go up a little, but the second person she said was great. Don't get me wrong, I only noticed the eyebrow thing when she pointed it out, but I know when you are looking at yourself in the mirror, everything seems amplified.

Botox works great. It relaxes your muscles. The down side it is expensive and has to be done every 3-6 months. I am on my 4th month and the lines are still gone. I've had it around the eyes and after 2 months they are back. I don't know if it has something to do with how much the muscles are used on a daily basis. My forehead lines were not bad. My crow's feet were a lot worse. He actually said I have the typical irish smile. (???).

I don't think micro works on lines like that. It is more for fine lines and deep exfoliation. It makes your skin feel great though. Cleans out your pores.

I've had microderm abrasion which helps with improving the texture and skin tone. It improves the "appearance" of fine lines but mine haven't gone away. For deeper lines I think botox or injectables are a better solution. I have met with a cosmetic dermatologist to get pricing for injectables since I have the "parenthesis" but I haven't worked up the courage to get it done yet.

I have never been able to wrap my mind around the idea of injecting botox or other facial muscle paralizing solutions into your face to prevent the signs of aging... Even the thought of colligen fillers, etc, scare the begeezers out of me! (I hate needles anyway, but anywhere around my face and I'm so gone!!! :)) I'm not saying that people who have the desire or means to do so shouldn't do it, but I just don't get it myself.

I notice there are a lot of women on TV that look like they have NO facial expressions what so ever, and find it a little strange that they would rather look like permenantly expressionless than to face getting older. I guess I am just of the opinion that aging is inevitable and the lines on your face are what they are... I'll be 42 in a few months and have noticed that my face is not as smooth, soft and supple as it used to be, and I do not take care of it as I should, but the whole cosmetic surgery, nips, tucks, unless required for reconstruction reasons confuses me to no end...

Good luck with whatever you decide to do, but in any case, seek the best and do your research! :) And remember you are Beautiful just the way you are!

You may want to think about facial exercise rather than doing botox. One very good one is Flexeffect. I have tried many, Facial Magic, Carole Maggio etc but Flexeffect which I got recently really make a difference. You can read about it here - http://www.flexeffect.com/

Although their forums are not as expansive as this one, some real life stories are there e.g this one on a lady Lala who has been practicing Flex effect for 5 over years. http://flexeffect.proboards19.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=3588

Think about this. Botox is only temporary. You would want a face that look good at any age.

Hope above helps

Another thing to try on the 11's is "frownies": they are patches that you wear overnight, no chemicals in them, it's just the physical effect of somewhat retraining the muscles to relax.

Renee Russo supposedly uses them.

Botox for sure is the only treatment that'll get rid of the 11s (or fish hooks, as I call them). You can do facial exercises 24/7 & wear all the patches you want, but nothing is gonna be truly effective other than the injectables.

Thanks for all the great infomation. I'll check all the websites listed. Just a side note, I went to Youtube and saw a couple of botox procedure videos.....ouch!!! Kind of makes me want to try anything but that...

Thanks again everyone.
