Question for you spinners

I've never done it, but always thought it looked really cool. So I am thinking of taking some spinning classes - looking for tips for my first time. Would appreciate any tips. Did you all love it at first try? What results if any have you noticed? How many times per week do you do it? TIA

I highly recommend borrowing/buying a nicely padded pair of biking shorts. Trust me, your arse will truly appreciate that advice ;)

Love it now but not at first

I have done spinning 3 times a week since last November, and I love it. It's hard, but the object is to be challenged, and hopefully, you can find classes that keep you challenged. To be quite honest, the first time I did it I said "Never again," but gave it another try years later & am totally hooked. I'm actually a spinning instructor, and I try to keep the music fun & the classes fun also. I have a pile of "profiles" - class formats - that I rotate so we don't repeat a class format for 5 weeks - I have lots of different music tapes & CD's also that I use 'cause I really hate to be bored! As for results, the calorie burn is impressive, and best of all, for me, is that my legs are less jiggly and are more defined.

The one and only thing I can say about spin is that it can be as hard or as easy as you want it to be, . . . so to quote one of my all time favorite and fabulous fitness icons, Cathe "Work! Work!"

Spinning is awesome. I was doing it 2x per week. I agree that it can be as hard or easy as you want. Also, I had to buy a bike seat (padded) to go over the actual seat becuase I was sore....you know where

Padding

I wear padded shorts liners. Also got a padded seat cover but quickly stopped using it. You get used to the discomfort, although the first time after your first spinning class you may feel like you sat over a bonfire!
