Question for those with Heart Rate Monitors:

Well, I just did Low Max this morning and I burned 511 calories. Also, Terminator and Hardcore Extreme. Also, any steady state cardio (anything from Cardio Hits) and Step Blast or Rhythmic Step.

Marcy

for me it was:

830 cal for the Harcore Ext kickbox intervals
762 cal for Imax Extreme
736 cal for MIC
687 cal for the Viper

I burn major calories with Kick Max. I burn 800 calories with KM! I am overweight so that's why it's so high, but with other high intensity workouts such as Imax 2 I burn about 600-650.

Agreeing with the others... all of the workouts on Hardcore Extreme and Terminator, followed by Low Max. I have a higher average calories burned per minute with Low Max than any of the Imaxes or kickboxing stuff (though I love that, too!). They're all great workouts :)

I don't pay attention to calories at all. My goal is to keep my heart rate in the target zone for my age and fitness level for about 45 minutes. Anything that gets my heart rate where it should be is a great workout, and the more fun it is the better.

I honestly can't fathom what you can learn from looking at the calorie count, as you can't change it anyway, so how can it motivate you? I just don't get it. Can someone explain?

Thanks to everyone who answered.
Nancy, I don't have a heart rate monitor myself. I am having a harder and harder time every year keeping my weight in check and I want to make sure that I spend the time I do have to work out in a wise manner. I will focus more on kickmax and lomax both of which I have in my collection because of these kind ladies taking the time to share their information. I will also make my next purchases from their recommendations.
Thanks again ladies!

Nancy,
For me it's a gauge to compare workout to workout. It's just another piece of info that sums up your workout numerically, like average heart rate. I like to compare my workouts to eachother to get an idea where my fitness level is. For example, I used to burn just tons of calories for LowMax. Now it's far less because my endurance has improved that much. If I didn't keep track of that, I would have never known just how much stronger I've gotten over the last year.
