Question for those who have Spinervals

Odd question, but my road bike is in the shop and I'm going to get my Spinervals DVD today. How easy would it be to record these DVD's onto a CD and merely listen to them at a gym using a spin bike? Is he vocal enough that I would know what to do?

Most of them have pretty good audio. (I don't have any from the fitness series though - only the competition series.) I cannot remember which but there is one that is hard to hear him over the music. I don't think you would have a problem though. To tell you the truth I have my head down and so much sweat in my eyes I can't see the darn video anyway! :7 I would recommmend watching it first just to get familiar with how the workouts are done and the terminology he uses. For the most part, I don't really watch anymore - just following his cues darn near kills me every time.:)

Thanks Rogue! I have his first video - CycleRobx - and figured I could do manage it on that video. I love spinning but I am not impressed with the instructors at my gym ("lets climb a hill fo 10 minutes!" How boring!). I figure maybe I could do this instead - at least some of it.

Christine - I totally know what you mean. I used to regularly go to a spinning class at my gym with a woman who was pretty good and had pretty decent music. Anyway, they cancelled that class and the rest of the instructors stink. For example, I went to this class where the woman had a CD with "I'm every woman" on it and played all 3 versions of it and had us climb the whole time. What is up with that??? Good luck with the spinervals. That is something I should think about too. Do you have a spinning bike at home or a trainer for your road bike? We only have a trainer for our road bikes at home. Can you do spinervals using them??

Karin

Oh Karin - OUCH! I'd be climbing, but it would be the walls after that! I have a trainer at home - and three bikes - all of which are out of comission for one thing or another. One I took to the shop to get ready, but it will be a while (we're getting into the "season" so everyone has bikes in). The Spinervals are actually designed to use with the trainer. Did your trainer come with the CycleRobx VHS? That was Coach Troy's first "Spinerval". I wore my tape out (actually had two and killed them both).

You can look at the different DVD's at www.spinervals.com

Oh WOW!!! As I did not get the other DVD's I was expecting, I decided to trick up my old road bike (glory be! The back tire pumped up and stayed pumped!), and pop it on my trainer. I rode with rat traps and sneakers (my bike shoes are in the upstairs closet and I didn't want to wake DH), and did Spinervals # 24 Hillacious (I love climbing). I got one H*LL of a workout! I burned more calories than I do doing LowMax, or IMax 2 - by over 100. And talk about intensity blasts!!!! Think IMax 3 Intensity level with NO impact! What a workout!

I'm SOOO glad the others did not show up - as I would never have done Spinervals! I highly recommend these series to anyone who wants the Intensity of a high impact workout without the impact. I'm definitely buying more.
